Manchester Wolves News Release

MANCHESTER WOLVES READY FOR EAST DIVISION BATTLE

May 25, at 7:05 pm

Chevrolet Centre, Youngstown, OH

WOLVES (3-4) VS. THUNDER (3-4)

The Manchester Wolves, New Hampshire's professional arenafootball2 team, will be looking for their first road win of the season when they travel down to Youngstown, Ohio to take on their East Division rival Mahoning Valley Thunder tomorrow, May 25 at 7:05 p.m. at the Chevrolet Centre.

The Thunder (3-4) are in their first af2 season and have currently lost their last four straight games after winning their first three. To make matters worse Thunder starting quarterback Glen Gauntt will miss the next 4-6 weeks after suffering a broken thumb injury in their loss last week to the Florida Firecats. Gauntt, who has 1,684 yards passing and 34 touchdowns on the season, will be replaced by rookie quarterback Mike Schneider. Schneider (6'2, 220) spent the first seven games of the season serving as a backup to Gauntt and has appeared in three games, completing 7-of-20 passes for 94 yards, one touchdown and one interception.

The Wolves will be looking for their first road win of the year as they have lost all four of their match ups in 2007, with two losses in Wilkes-Barre Scranton, to the Pioneers, and one loss in Green Bay, to the Blizzard and last week's 62-52 loss in Bossier Shreveport, Louisiana to the Battle Wings.

Manchester beat the Mahoning Valley, 67-49, in the team's match up on Brady Sullivan Field at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, N.H. back on April 28.

A win would not only bring the Wolves back to..500 at 4-4, but would up Ben Bennett's all-time win total to the coveted 50-win plateau. Bennett currently sits tied for 5th all-time in the arenafootball2 league with his 49 wins.

Fans looking to listen to the game, announced by Wolves play-by-play caller Dick Lutsk, can either turn their radio dial to WFEA 1370AM or go to www.manchesterwolves.com and click on the "TEAMLINE" link on the home page.

SEBASTIEN LOOKING TO BE AF2'S ALL-TIME INTERCEPTION LEADER

Wolves' Five-Year Veteran Is Currently One Behind Interception Leader

The Manchester Wolves, New Hampshire's professional arenafootball2 team, might have their first af2 all-time leader on their hands in five-year veteran Allistair Sebastien. The defensive back from St. John's University currently had 28 career interceptions which is good for second all-time and just one short of the leader, four-year veteran Matt Forbes of the Louisville Fire.

"I'm not really thinking about it (the record) to tell you the truth," said Sebastien. "I'm more worried about our current season as we are lacking some consistency. I just hope I can make some big plays so that I can help our team make the playoffs."

Sebastien (6'0, 200), who is playing his sixth season in the af2 and fifth with the Wolves, has amassed 356.5 total tackles to go along with his 28 interceptions in just 75 games played. The New York native currently holds the Wolves all-time records in tackles (323.0) and interceptions (24). With seven games into the 2007 season Sebastien leads the team in tackles (44.0) and is tied for first in interceptions (2).

"Having Sebastien a part of the secondary is like having a coach on the field," said Wolves Assistant Coach/Defensive Backs Coach Keith Easley, who has coached Sebastien since 2004. "I know he is going to remain calm during the game and will make sure the guys around him know their assignments."

Manchester (3-4) will travel to Youngstown, OH for this Friday's tilt against their East Division rival Mahoning Valley Thunder (3-4). The Wolves will enter the contest coming off of their fourth straight road loss, a 62-52 defeat by the hands of the Bossier Shreveport Battle Wings (6-1) last Friday, May 18, in Bossier City, LA. With a Wolves' win head coach Ben Bennett will reach the coveted 50-win plateau and become just the fifth af2 head coach to do so. The Thunder will enter the battle having lost their last four contests.

Fans looking to listen to the game, announced by Wolves play-by-play caller Dick Lutsk, can either turn their radio dial to WFEA 1370AM or go to www.manchesterwolves.com and click on the "TEAMLINE" link on the home page.
