Mazzola, Herron Sweep League Awards for June

FARGO, ND - Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks 3B Josh Mazzola and former RedHawks RHP Tyler Herron have been named the Rawlings American Association Player and Pitcher of the Month for June, the league office announced today.

Mazzola batted .366 with six doubles, nine home runs, 31 RBIs and 23 runs scored in 27 games as he led Fargo-Moorhead to a 16-11 record for the month. Mazzola posted a .432 on-base percentage and a .661 slugging percentage. Entering tonight's series opener against the Lincoln Saltdogs, Mazzola is batting .331 with 11 doubles, 11 home runs, 44 RBIs and 31 runs scored in 39 games.

Herron, who had his contract purchased by the New York Mets organization on Tuesday, was 4-1 with a 1.08 in five starts in June, including two shutouts. In 41.2 innings pitched, Herron allowed just five runs on 19 hits. He struck out 34 batters, walked ten and held opponents to a .138 batting average against him. This season with Fargo-Moorhead, Herron was 5-1 with a 0.80 ERA in seven starts.

The RedHawks open a six-game roadtrip tonight with the first of three games at Haymarket Park in Lincoln, NE against the Lincoln Saltdogs at 6:35 p.m. Following the Saltdogs series, Fargo-Moorhead will travel to Sioux City to face the Explorers on Monday-Wednesday nights.
