Peterborough Petes News Release

(Peterborough, ON) - The Peterborough Petes and the Alzheimer Society of Peterborough, Kawartha Lakes, Northumberland & Haliburton are excited to announce further details surrounding the second annual Faceoff Against Dementia event. The event will take place in conjunction with the rivalry game between the Peterborough Petes and Oshawa Generals on Thursday, January 7, 2016 at 7:05pm.

Manon Rheaume, the only woman to have ever played in the NHL (Tampa Bay Lightning) will be participating in the ceremonial puck drop before the game. Additionally, the Olympic silver medallist will be signing autographs during a North Lobby meet and greet in the first and second intermissions.

Fans can participate in a fundraising chuck-a-puck with prizes including Toronto Maple Leafs tickets. There will also be a silent auction in support of the Alzheimer Society, featuring items such as NHL authenticated jerseys, Tree Top Trekker vouchers, Canadian Hockey Enterprises week at camp and many more. Firefighters and Police Auxiliary from our community will be on hand accepting donations. Last year's event raised over $12,000 in support of Alzheimer Society programs and services, and the Petes beat the Generals 1-0 in the fundraising game.

"This is the second annual Faceoff Against Dementia showdown between these rival hockey teams," noted Susan Dunkley, Alzheimer Society Fund Development Coordinator. "We were delighted with the response of the community with our first annual hockey game and are thrilled with the support of both the Peterborough Petes and the Oshawa Generals."

Tickets are selling out quickly for the rivalry game between the Petes and the 2015 Memorial Cup champion Generals. Fans are encouraged to use promotional code "ALZ" at the PMC Collins Barrow Box Office or online to save $4. The Petes will donate an additional $4 to the Alzheimer Society for every "ALZ" ticket sold.
