DASH DROP CRUCIAL RUBBER MATCH

Winston-Salem dropped its fourth consecutive rubber match by a score of 6-3 to the Lynchburg Hillcats on Wednesday night at BB&T Ballpark. For the first time this season, Dash hurlers gave up three homers, two of which came off the bat of Will Skinner. Lynchburg ousted Dash starter Chris Beck after three innings (4 R, 6 H, 2 K, 3 BB, 83 pitches). Beck, who tossed a complete game shutout six days ago, saw his career-long four-game personal winning streak come to an end. The Dash dropped to 3-8 against the Hillcats in 2013, which includes losses in five of the seven home games in the season series.

NO MORE FEELING BLUE?

The Dash have beaten up on the Blue Rocks more than any team in the Carolina League thus far this season. Winston-Salem is 9-1 against Wilmington, and the Dash's lone trip to the First State resulted in a three-game sweep from April 26-28. Winston has outscored the Blue Crew by a score of 47-18 this year, and Wilmington has failed to score multiple runs in six of the 10 games. Dating back to last season, the Dash have won 24 of their last 30 versus the Rocks.

ROLLIN' ON THE RIVERFRONT

Dating back to June of 2011, the Dash have won 15 of their last 19 games inside Frawley Stadium. A year ago, the Dash clinched the first half Southern Division title on June 16 with a 9-5 victory over the Blue Rocks in Delaware.

DeMICHELE'S DOUBLE DIGITS

Dash infielder Joey DeMichele has hit safely in 12 consecutive games since June 2, which is the longest run by a Winston-Salem hitter in 2013. During this streak, he is hitting .367 (18-for-49) with three RBIs and seven runs scored. Dating back to May 26, he has hit safely in 18 of 20 games and raised his overall batting average 62 points to .249. DeMichele is the fourth Winston-Salem hitter to put together a hitting streak of 10 or more games this season, which is a claim that no other CL club can make.

UPHILL CLIMB

With four days remaining in the season's first half, the Dash are two games behind first-place Myrtle Beach in the Southern Division standings. As a result, Myrtle's magic number sits at three. The Pelicans moved their winning streak to six with a sweep-clinching 5-1 victory over the Frederick Keys on Wednesday. The Birds wrap up the first half with five games in four days at home against Carolina. Myrtle Beach boasts an 8-1 record against the Muddies so far in 2013.

TRIPLE CROWN CONTENDER

All-Star Chris Curley is in the top six in the Carolina League in all three triple crown categories. He is sixth in the league with a .304 batting average, and his 11 home runs are tied for third on the circuit. Curley is knotted with Salem's Keury De La Cruz for the top spot in RBIs with 47. The Fort Mitchell, Ky., native is also second in hits (76), second in total bases (124), tied for second in runs (45) and third in slugging percentage (.496).

HOMER HAPPY

Winston-Salem leads the Carolina League with 16 home runs thus far in June. This recent power surge has propelled the Dash into a tie for second with Lynchburg in home runs in the Carolina League (56). Only Frederick (57) has gone yard more this season than the Dash. Two of the six men on the circuit with double-digit home runs are Dash hitters: Courtney Hawkins (12, 2nd) and Chris Curley (11, T-3rd).

DASH DOTS

Jake Cose and John Lamb squared off five days ago inside BB&T Ballpark, and Cose (6.0 IP, 3 R, 4 H) bested Lamb (4.0 IP, 6 R, 3 HR) for his first High-A victory...Chris Bassitt earned a spot on the CL All-Star team as a replacement for Salem's Henry Owens...Bassitt joins fellow righty Chris Beck and infielders Chris Curley and Jeremy Farrell as Dash representatives in the California-Carolina League All-Star Game, which is set for Tuesday night in San Jose, Calif.
