Inland Empire 66ers News Release
San Bernardino, CA -Saturday was a night to remember at San Manuel Stadium as the Inland Empire 66ers (31-31) posted a season high 20 hits on their way to a 12-1 victory over the High Desert Mavericks (31-31) in front of a season high crowd of 5,212. The win pulls the 66ers back into a tie for 2nd in the division, four games out of first with eight to play before the All Star break.
Michael Snyder paced the offense with four hits including a home run and three runs batted in. For the second straight night he finished one hit shy of the cycle, missing a single on Friday, and a triple on Saturday. Every member of the 66ers offense who came to the plate contributed to the team season high hit total, and seven batters recorded multi-hit games. Both Eric Stamets and Zach Borenstein spiked home three times in the contest, including Borenstein's 100th of his career. Not lost during the offensive effort was that the team did not really need all the runs thanks to a third consecutive quality start from Orangel Arenas. Saturday's may have been his best yet, shutting out the league's second best offense in six innings, while scattering three hits compared to his four strikeouts.
Arenas picked up the win to improve to 3-2 with four quality starts in six outings this season for Inland Empire. The 66ers can secure a split of the series with a win Sunday, June 9th against the High Desert Mavericks. It will also be 66ers USC hat giveaway day presented by Rotolo Chevrolet.
