Birmingham Barons News Release
The Birmingham Barons dropped game two of their double-header with the Huntsville Stars by a score of 2-0 Thursday night in front of 1,523 fans at Joe Davis Stadium.
The Stars scored both of their runs on a two-run double by Shea Vucinich in the fourth against reliever Salvador Sanchez (1-3, 3.38).
The Barons mustered just five hits against Stars starter Andy Moye (3-6, 4.10) who struck out four and walked two in a complete game shutout effort. Keenyn Walker had two of the Barons' five hits on the night.
The loss dropped the Barons to 38-22 on the season while the Stars improved to 25-32. Despite the loss, the Barons earned their fourth road series victory of the year thanks to a complete game effort by starter Erik Johnson in game one of the twin-bill.
The Barons' Magic Number to clinch their 10th playoff birth in 14 seasons stands at 4 as they return to Regions Field to begin a 10-game homestand that will take them to the end of the first half. LHP Scott Snodgress (7-3, 4.21) will take the hill in game one Friday as the Jacksonville Suns visit Regions Field for the first time. First pitch is schedule for 7:05 PM CDT.
