TRENTON, NJ - A pitching matchup between two highly touted prospects lived up to the billing, but the Thunder found themselves on the wrong end of a 2-1 game against the Bowie Baysox Friday.

In front of 5,690 fans at ARM & HAMMER Park, Jose Ramirez (No. 16 prospect, Yankees) matched Kevin Gausman (No. 2 prospect, Orioles) for five innings but only earned the no-decision in his fourth start with the Thunder. He went 5.0 IP and allowed just three hits-one being a solo homerun to Bowie's Caleb Joseph in the 4th inning to tie the game 1-1.

Ramirez remains 0-1 on the season with a 1.50 ERA and 33 strikeouts in 24.0 innings.

For Bowie, Gausman struck out 10 batters in six innings en route to his second victory of the season. With a fastball that hit 99 MPH at points, and settled at 97 MPH through the first four innings, he recorded eight of his nine outs in the 3rd, 4th and 5th innings via the strikeout.

The lone run for the Thunder came in the 2nd inning when Slade Heathcott tripled to left-center field, and then scored one batter later on Ali Castillo's grounder in front of the plate. Bowie catch Brian Ward peeked over at Heathcott at third base before firing to first, but Heathcott broke for the plate and was able to score before a return throw could be made by the Baysox first baseman, Brandon Waring.

The Thunder and Baysox continue their three-game series Saturday at 7:05 p.m. The game features LHP Nik Turley (3-2, 4.98) against RHP Zach Clark (0-1, 13.50) for Bowie who will be making his second appearance since being transitioned to a knuckleballer. Limited tickets are available through the Thunder box office at (609) 394-3300 or online at www.trentonthunder.com/tickets. Radio coverage on 91.3 FM (WTSR) and also streaming online begins at 12:45 p.m.
