Hickory, NC--Asheville ran their winning streak to double digits Wednesday night as they defeated the Hickory Crawdads 10-2 at L.P. Frans Stadium. The game was close for a while, but the bats came alive to give the T's their biggest win during the streak.

David Dahl started the Tourists off with a one-out single to left in the top of the first inning. Immediately following Dahl, Rosell Herrera blasted a shot clear over the right field wall for his sixth Home Run of the season; giving the Tourists a 2-0 lead.

Hickory cut the lead to 2-1 in the bottom of the third. With runners at first and second, Luis Mendez hit a groundball to Tourists second baseman Jose Rivera. What looked to be an inning- ending double play, ended up as an error and David Lyon came home to score from second.

Shane Broyles did well to limit the damage and the Tourists kept their advantage intact. In the fifth Hickory tied the game by rallying with two outs. The Crawdads displayed an excellent eye at the plate by walking three times. The final base on balls forced in the tying run. Ryan Arrowood came in to replace Broyles and retired Jorge Alfaro to end the inning.

The Tourists wasted no time responding, and they did so in a big way. Asheville plated five runs on six hits in the top of the sixth inning. Francisco Sosa, Derek Jones, and Matt Wessinger all connected with RBI singles, while Julian Yan drove in a pair with a double. The Tourists plated five in an inning for the third time this season and led 7-2 after six.

Arrowood continued to deal as the right-handed reliever did not allow a hit through the next two frames. Alving Mejias and Patrick Johnson followed suit by tossing scoreless innings as well.

Tom Murphy hit his seventh Home Run of the year in the top of the ninth, extending his hitting streak to 11 games. Dahl finished 3-for-5 but all took a back seat offensively to Yan. The Tourists right-fielder went 4-for-5 with three doubles. Yan had a total of one double in 21 games coming into the game.

The Tourists and Crawdads are back in action Thursday night with the first pitch scheduled for 7:00 pm.
