February 12, 2013 - ECHL (ECHL)
Las Vegas Wranglers News Release
Las Vegas - The Las Vegas Wranglers, in conjunction with the ECHL, announced today that forward Andrew Sarauer and goaltender Joe Fallon have earned Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week and Reebok Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week honors, respectively. Both players are being recognized for their efforts during the week of Feb. 4-10, which is the first time since March 14, 2010, that the same team has had Player and Goaltender of the Week at the same time.
Sarauer ("Sarr"), 28, posted five goals and 10 points last week as the Wranglers went 4-0-0 to continue a seven-game winning streak. In a 4-2 win against the Colorado Eagles on Monday, Feb. 4, the 6-foot-4, 205-pound forward recorded three points (2 goals, 1 assist) with a power-play goal and the game-winning goal, and collected his first hat trick of the season in the team's 5-0 victory over the San Francisco Bulls on Wednesday, Feb. 6. Adding two assists in wins against the Bakersfield Condors on Saturday, Feb. 8, and the Ontario Reign on Saturday, Feb. 9, the Outlook, Saskatchewan native currently leads the Wranglers with 39 points (16 goals, 23 assists) in 47 games.
Fallon, 28, has won his last six starts, going back to a Wednesday, Jan. 30, 4-2 win over the Condors. Last week, the 6-foot-3, 190-pound goaltender went 3-0-0 with a 1.95 goals-against average and a 0.938 save percentage, stopping a total of 90 shots. On Feb. 4, Fallon matched his season high with 40 saves against the Eagles, and continued with 31 saves on Friday, Feb. 8, against the Condors. To finish the week, the three-time Goaltender of the Week winner made 19 saves in a 4-3 overtime victory against the Reign on Saturday to preserve the team's seven-game win streak, a season best for the organization.
On behalf of Sarauer, a case of pucks will be donated to a Las Vegas youth hockey organization by Sher-Wood Hockey, the exclusive puck supplier of the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-01, Sher-Wood Hockey has donated more than 27,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.
The Wranglers play the Utah Grizzlies on Wednesday, Feb. 13, before returning home for two games against the Idaho Steelheads starting Friday, Feb. 15, at 7:05 p.m. On Sunday, Feb. 17, the team hosts the second annual Wranglers Midnight Circus, which will feature live aerial and contortionist acts on the concourse and ice as the puck drops at 11:59 p.m.
Celebrating 10 seasons of Wranglers hockey this year, group events are available at all home games, including pre-game ice skating parties, private luxury suites, and rink-side catered party boxes. Groups of ten or more can sit together starting at $13 per ticket, and feature perks such as in-game group recognition and "buy one, get one free" Chuck-A-Puck vouchers. Take advantage of the best deals by calling the Wranglers front office at (702) 471-PUCK . The Wranglers play all 36 regular season home games at Orleans Arena, located next to the Orleans Hotel and Casino at 4500 W. Tropicana Ave.
