Monday, December 10; Cody Sol Recalled to IceCaps

LOVELAND, Colo. - The Colorado Eagles, proud affiliate of the NHL's Winnipeg Jets & the AHL's St. John's IceCaps, announced today that rookie defenseman Cody Sol (pronounced: sawl) has been recalled to the IceCaps' roster. The 6-foot-6-inch, 242-pound blueliner has recorded five points (3-2-5) and 93 penalty minutes in 21 games with the Eagles this season. His 51 shots lead all Eagles defensemen, and his 93 PIMs lead all ECHL rookies and rank 5th among all players. Sol was originally drafted by the Atlanta Thrashers in the 5th round of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft (125th overall).

Tuesday, December 11; Tickets Now Available for 2013 ECHL Hall of Fame Luncheon, presented by BFL CANADA, hosted at Embassy Suites

(LEAGUE RELEASE: PRINCETON, N.J.) - The ECHL announced on Tuesday that the 2013 ECHL Hall of Fame induction ceremony, presented by BFL CANADA, will take place on Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, at the Embassy Suites Hotel, Spa and Conference Center in Loveland, Colo. The event will run from noon to 1:30.

The sixth class of inductees will enter into the ECHL Hall of Fame during the luncheon. The Class of 2013 is David Craievich, Marc Magliarditi, Steve Poapst and Darren Schwartz.

Individual tickets and table sponsorships for the luncheon are now available. Table sponsorships include seven tickets and a company acknowledgement as well as a 2013 All-Star or Colorado Eagles player joining the table for lunch.

Tuesday, December 11; Eagles Get OT Win Against Wranglers, 3-2

LOVELAND, Colo. - The Colorado Eagles scored three unanswered goals to take a 3-2 overtime win against the defending Western Conference champion Las Vegas Wranglers. Jack Combs scored just 22 seconds into the extra session with a highlight reel goal that gave goaltender Kyle Jones his 68th win with the Eagles, tying Andrew Penner for the team's all-time record. The teams will meet again Wednesday night at the Budweiser Events Center.

Wednesday, December 12; Costello's Shorthanded Hat Trick Helps Colorado to 5-3 Win

LOVELAND, Colo. - The Colorado Eagles won their fourth straight game with a 5-3 victory over the defending Western Conference champion Las Vegas Wranglers. Chad Costello scored three shorthanded goals -- all set up by Ray Kaunisto -- to help power the offense and Kyle Jones picked up his 69th win with Colorado, moving into first place on the team's all-time wins list.

Thursday, December 13; IceCaps Recall Two More (Kaunisto & Schnell) From Colorado

LOVELAND, Colo. - The Colorado Eagles, proud affiliate of the NHL's Winnipeg Jets & the AHL's St. John's IceCaps, announced today that forwards Ray Kaunisto & Ryan Schnell have been recalled to the IceCaps.

Kaunisto was assigned to the Eagles shortly after the start of the season and has played in 19 games for Colorado, in which he's recorded nine points (3-6-9) and 29 penalty minutes. He scored a goal and assisted on all three of Chad Costello's ECHL record-tying three shorthanded goals in last night's Eagles win. The 6-foot-4-inch, 185-pound forward spent the past two seasons with the AHL's Manchester Monarchs, tallying 36 points (15-21-36) and 115 PIMs.

Schnell was assigned to the Eagles at the start of November and has already tied his career high for points in a season (seven) and set a new career high with four goals in just 12 games. He has also made an impact with his physical play, with his 105 PIMs tied for the most in the ECHL. The 6-foot-3-inch, 220-pound forward has spent the past three seasons split between the AHL's Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins & the ECHL's Wheeling Nailers.

Friday, December 14; Short-benched Eagles Struggle in Stockton

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder topped a severely short-benched Colorado Eagles club, 4-1, snapping the visitors' four-game winning streak in the first of back-to-back meetings this weekend. Colorado, playing with just 13 of a typical 16 skaters due to injuries and call-ups, faced a tall task against the Thunder and the ECHL's reigning Goaltender of the Week, Cody Reichard, and their penchant for taking penalties made things even tougher as they saw Stockton for the first time since being swept out of last season's playoffs.

Saturday, December 15; Short-benched Eagles Power Past Stockton, 2-1

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Colorado Eagles, playing with just a dozen active skaters due to injuries and call-ups, defeated the Stockton Thunder, 2-1, in the teams' second meeting in as many nights. The Eagles' special teams paved the way to victory -- the power play went 2-for-3 and the penalty kill went 5-for-5 -- and Adam Brown stopped 40 shots before having his shutout bid ruined in the final two minutes of play.

THE WEEK AHEAD

Wednesday, December 19, Friday, December 20 & Saturday, December 21; Colorado Looks to Continue Dominance Over Condors

Colorado compiled a record of 8-3-0 against the Condors last season, a year in which Bakersfield finished in last place in the Western Conference and just three points away from the ECHL cellar overall. Things aren't going much better for the Condors this season, as they enter the week in said cellar with a record of just 7-16-3. However, stats can be deceiving, and Bakersfield has shown to be a fair foe in the "Battle of the Birds," as despite the record, the Eagles have out-scored the Condors by just nine total goals through the 11 games they've played. Moreover, in four games at the Budweiser Events Center, Colorado's 3-1-0 record has come by a goal total of just 17-13.

NOTABLE NUMBERS

WHAT CAN BROWN DO FOR YOU? - Adam Brown backstopped the Eagles' 2-1 win on Saturday in Stockton in which they had just 12 active skaters. Taking a 2-0 lead into the final frame, the Thunder threw 21 shots at the rookie netminder and he stopped all but one in the final minutes. Those 21 shots allowed in a period set a new season high for the Eagles and the 20 saves by Brown tied the third most in the third period in team history. The win pushed Brown's record on the season to 3-1-1, with a 2.77 GAA and a .904 SV%.

EMPTY STATS - Incredibly, the Eagles picked up their first regulation 1-goal win of season on Saturday night. Their record in 1-goal games is now 3-5-3, but just 1-5 in regulation. That stat, however, is misleading due to Colorado's three empty-net tallies, which were a post away from being four on Saturday. Those empty-netters have turned 1-goal games into 2-goal games, in which the Eagles have a record of 3-1-0.

BACK ON OUR SIDE - Forward Joey Sides was reassigned to the Eagles' roster after a six-game stint with the St. John's IceCaps in which he tallied two assists and two penalty minutes. He returns to Colorado as the club's 5th-leading point producer with 18 points (9-9-18) in 19 games.

JACK OF ONE TRADE - Jack Combs has scored five goals in his past five games, moving him into the league lead -- ahead of linemate Michael Forney -- with 19 on the season. His current surge has been impressive in another manner as well, as he's accounted for three of the Eagles' past four game-winning goals, moving him into a 5th-place tie in the league in that category.

WORTH THE "COSTY" OF ADMISSION - With his assist on Saturday, Chad Costello moved into 11th place on the Eagles' all-time points list, passing Fraser Filipic, and leaving him just seven points shy of a spot among the top-10 alongside Sean Robertson . Costello's 125 points (43-82-125) have come in just 74 games, or two more than a regular ECHL season. The league's leading point producer has been remarkably consistent, as he's on pace this season to record 131 points, which would rank 7th on the league's all-time list for points in a season, and blow away Kevin Ulanski 's team record of 109.

BATTLE OF THE BIRDS - The Eagles (and everyone else) had their way with Bakersfield last season. In 11 meetings, Colorado went 8-3-0 against the Western Conference's last place team, which also happened to finish three points out of last place in the entire league. Things aren't going much better for the Condors this season, as they reside in last place in the ECHL with a record of 7-16-3. However, the Eagles can't be too confident because their games against the Condors have been close ones, with the scoring differential just 40-31 overall and 17-13 in four home games.
