December 17, 2012 - ECHL (ECHL)
Utah Grizzlies News Release

The Situation

The Grizzlies enter the week having collected standings points in eight of their last 12 games as they continue their eight-game home stand this week.

Vs The Steelheads

Utah is 3-1 versus Idaho this year. They have handed the Steelheads three of their eight non-wins all season.

Vs The Wranglers

Friday will be the first meeting with Las Vegas since last year's playoffs when Utah was eliminated in the first round for the first time in the last three years. The December 21 date will be the second-straight December 21 that Utah has met the Wranglers. Utah beat them 4-3 last year on December 21 at Maverik Center.

Three New Guys Burst On Scene

The Grizzlies were assigned Adam Estoclet, Michael Ferland and David Eddy from the Calgary Flames organization Friday and they made their debuts Saturday. Estoclet led Utah with eight shots and had an assist. Eddy had six shots, an assist and dropped the gloves 1:42 into the game. Ferland wowed the crowd with a fight 7:37 in when he went after Alaska's Matt Robinson after a hit on Utah leading scorer Mitch Wahl. The trio had 16 of Utah's 32 shots in the game.

Co-Captain

Brad Mills scored his team-leading 13th goal of the year Saturday to tie the contest at one with 50 seconds left in the second period. Mills was joined by Estoclet and Eddy on his line that scored the Grizzlies lone goal.

Wahl-To-Wahl

Mitch Wahl leads the ECHL with 17 assists and is second overall in scoring since November 17. Saturday, he had an eight-game scoring streak snapped, and he has three goals and 17 assists for 20 points in Utah's last 12 games.

Penalty-Kill Influence

Utah is 5-2-1-2 in their last ten games in which they allow two power-play goals or less in a contest. The Grizzlies went 6-6 Saturday to force the shootout.

Power-Play

With only one power-play opportunity Saturday, it marked just the third time in the last 20 games in which Utah hasn't scored a power-play goal. Utah has two power-play goals or more in nine of their last 20 games.

Good First Periods

Utah held Alaska scoreless in the first period in four of the most recently completed six games. Utah is 5-2-0-1 this year when they don't allow a first period goal and goaltender Grant Rollheiser is 4-1-0-2 when leading or tied after one period this year.
