Idaho Stampede News Release

BOISE, Idaho - Joel Freeland, assigned just today to the Idaho Stampede from the Portland Trail Blazers, scored 22 points and added 11 rebounds as the Idaho Stampede won their first game of the year, a 105-91 final at CenturyLink Arena in downtown Boise. Victor Claver, also assigned today after a two-game assignment last weekend from Portland, had 11 points, nine rebounds and five steals for Idaho (1-6).

The Stampede shot just 43.8 percent from the floor, but managed to make 30-of-35 free throws, while holding the Warriors (4-2) down to just 40.4 percent shooting and 21 free throw attempts. Idaho forced 19 turnovers, which led to 26 points, including 50 points in the paint for the home team. The Stampede never trailed, and led by as many as 18.

Three other players for Idaho reached double-figures, as the team featured just three bench players. Justin Holiday had 15 points and seven rebounds, Coby Karl had 19 points and Durrell Summers had 18 points.

Santa Cruz was led by Travis Leslie, who totaled 25 points and nine rebounds. Cameron Jones added 16 off the bench and Lance Goulbourne notched 10 points and seven rebounds.

The two teams face off again tomorrow night in Boise at 7 p.m.
