IceCaps Recall Two More (Kaunisto & Schnell) from Colorado

December 13, 2012 - ECHL (ECHL) Colorado Eagles

LOVELAND, Colo. - The Colorado Eagles, proud affiliate of the NHL's Winnipeg Jets & the AHL's St. John's IceCaps, announced today that forwards Ray Kaunisto & Ryan Schnell have been recalled to the IceCaps.

Kaunisto was assigned to the Eagles shortly after the start of the season and has played in 19 games for Colorado, in which he's recorded nine points (3-6-9) and 29 penalty minutes. He scored a goal and assisted on all three of Chad Costello's ECHL record-tying three shorthanded goals in last night's Eagles win. The 6-foot-4-inch, 185-pound forward spent the past two seasons with the AHL's Manchester Monarchs, tallying 36 points (15-21-36) and 115 PIMs.

Schnell was assigned to the Eagles at the start of November and has already tied his career high for points in a season (seven) and set a new career high with four goals in just 12 games. He has also made an impact with his physical play, with his 105 PIMs tied for the most in the ECHL. The 6-foot-3-inch, 220-pound forward has spent the past three seasons split between the AHL's Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins & the ECHL's Wheeling Nailers.

The Eagles will head to California for a pair of games against the Stockton Thunder this weekend (Friday & Saturday), before returning home for a three-game set against the Bakersfield Condors next week (Wednesday, Friday & Saturday).
