
Aces Acquire Clackson from Gwinnett for Sinkewich

The Alaska Aces have acquired forward Chris Clackson from the Gwinnett Gladiators in exchange for defenseman Russ Sinkewich, Aces Head Coach Rob Murray announced on Thursday. Clackson is expected to meet the Aces in Utah this weekend as the club squares off against the Grizzlies on Friday and Saturday night. Both games start at 5:05pm AKT. Clackson, 25, is a power forward in his third professional season. He immediately adds depth to the Aces forward corps that is riddled with injuries. So far this season, Clackson has 12 points (6g,6a) and 66 penalty minutes in 23 games with the Gladiators. He was Gwinnett's team leader in penalty minutes at the time of the trade. He spent significant time in the AHL in each of his first two seasons, combining for 48 career AHL games with Adirondack, Rochester, and Houston. Last year he played in 28 games for the Houston Aeros, totaling one goal, one assist and 34 penalty minutes, while also appearing in 31 games for the Gladiators and registering 23 points (10g, 13a) and 71 penalty minutes. Originally from Pittsburgh, PA the 6'0", 205 lbs. Clackson played collegiately at Western Michigan University. Following his four year career at WMU, he made his pro debut as an amateur at the end of the 2009-10 season, appearing in two AHL games for the Adirondack Phantoms. He spent his rookie season split between the Cincinnati Cyclones and Greenville Road Warriors (ECHL) and the Rochester Americans (AHL). The Aces are his fourth ECHL team and seventh pro team. Overall in his career, Clackson has 65 points (29g, 36a) and 272 penalty minutes in 148 professional games, including 59 points (26g, 33a) and 211 penalty minutes in 100 ECHL games.
Sinkewich, 27, departs the Aces in his third season with the team. This season the 6'4", 219 lbs. defenseman had four assists, 29 penalty minutes, and was a +5 in 23 games. Originally acquired early in the 2010-2011 season, Sinkewich played in 88 all-time regular season games for Alaska, totaling 18 points (4g, 14a) and 120 penalty minutes. He also had two assists in nine playoff games as part of Alaska's 2011 Kelly Cup winning squad.
