Tonight's Matchup: This is the third of thirteen meetings between the San Francisco Bulls and the Stockton Thunder. The Bulls won the two previous contests, including a 6-3 victory on November 24, which saw Dean Ouellet notch the first hat trick in team history. The Bulls offensive outburst tied a club high of 6 goals, despite being out-shot by the Thunder 37-24. In the only other meeting of the season, the Bulls topped the Thunder 4-1 on November 9.
Thursday's matchup kick starts a grueling four game set in five days, with all four contests being played in different venues. San Francisco will wrap up the four-game gauntlet against the Thunder, once again, after stops in Ontario and Bakersfield. Monday's affair will mark a historic moment for the Bulls. The squads will take to the ice at HP Pavilion, home of their NHL affiliate, the San Jose Sharks.
Stockton enters the Cow Palace with a hot hand in net. Netminder Cody Reichard was just named the Reebok Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week for December 3-9. Reichard went 2-0-1, including pitching his first career shutout, against Las Vegas on the previous Wednesday. Over his last seven games, forward Yannick Riendeau has produced at over a point a game pace, picking up two goals and eight assists for a total of 10 points. Right wing Toni Rajala currently ranks ninth in the Western Conference in goals with 13, despite missing five games due to a call up to the Oklahoma City Barons.
San Francisco's Daniil Tarasov has turned a corner since joining the Bulls, matching Ouellet in posting seven points apiece in their last six games. The Russian right wing has tormented opponents to the tune of two goals and five assists over the six-game span. Tarasov (+2) joins defenseman Scott Langdon (+1) as the only two players with a positive plus/minus rating over a 2-4-1 stretch.
San Francisco seeks to halt a two game losing streak after being swept by the Colorado Eagles at The Cow Palace over the weekend. The Bulls look for the breaks to go their way, after out-shooting Colorado 62-52 but found themselves on the wrong side of the score sheet by an aggregate score of 8-2 against the Eagles. Highlighting the weekend for the Bulls was the much improved penalty kill; holding the Eagles 2-for-8 on the man advantage.
Tonight is the first Thirsty Thursday of the season. At select concessions tonight, 12 oz. draft domestic beers are half price when you purchase two. Stop by the Guest Services table in the Cow Palace main lobby to be directed to these concessions stands.
