Kelowna Rockets Complete Day 1 at Main Camp

August 29, 2012 - Western Hockey League (WHL) Kelowna Rockets

Day one at the Kelowna Rockets main training camp featured a pair of spirited games and two practices as 60 players split into three teams and hit the ice at Prospera Place in Kelowna.

Each team had two on-ice sessions as players were put through the paces of a Rockets practice and played in games in front of Rockets coaches, management and staff.

"I thought it was a good day for us, the practices were high-tempo," said assistant coach Dan Lambert. "Some of the young guys weren't quite used to what our expectations in practice are. They had to push through it and they did a good job at that. Our veterans on the ice that went through practice really pushed the pace and showed the young guys how we do things."

The Rockets have two more full days of training camp before heading into the Western Hockey League exhibition season on Friday with a game in Vancouver against the Giants. The two teams will play Saturday at Prospera Place as well, kicking off a six game exhibition schedule.

Kelowna plays home exhibition games three Saturday's in September, hosting Vancouver this Saturday, Victoria on Sept. 8 and Tri-City on Sept. 15 at Prospera Place.

Tickets for those games are on sale at www.selectyourtickets.com of call 250-762-5050.
