Rusin to Start for Iowa on Sunday

Des Moines, IA - The Chicago Cubs optioned left-handed pitcher Chris Rusin to Iowa and recalled left-handed pitcher Brooks Raley today. Rusin will start for the I-Cubs in the home season finale against the RedHawks tomorrow at 1:05 p.m. and Raley will start for Chicago today.

Rusin was selected by the Cubs from Iowa on Tuesday, and made his major league debut at Milwaukee that same night. The 25-year-old southpaw only allowed one run on one hit, walked two and struck out four in five innings, but took the loss.

Rusin is 8-8 with a 4.59 ERA (68 ER/133.1 IP) in his team-leading 24 starts as an I-Cub this season. The former Kentucky Wildcat boasts a team-high 10 quality starts on the year.

Raley will begin his second stint with the big Cubs when he takes the mound against the Rockies at Wrigley Field this afternoon. The Cubs Minor League Pitcher of the Month for July holds a 1-2 record and a 7.63 ERA (13 ER/15.1 IP) in three starts with Chicago this during the 2012 campaign. He is 6-10 with a 3.58 ERA (52 ER/130.2 IP) through 22 starts in the minors this year, and 4-8 with a 3.62 ERA (33 ER/82.0 IP) in 14 starts as I-Cub.

The Iowa Cubs and Oklahoma City RedHawks play game four of a five-game set tonight at Principal Park. The game starts at 7:05 p.m. and will be broadcast live on AM 940 beginning with the On-Deck Circle Pre-Game Show at 6:45 p.m.
