Albuquerque Isotopes News Release
The blockbuster trade between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Boston Red Sox that shook the sports world over the last 36 hours has impacted the Albuquerque Isotopes as well, with "ËTopes infielder Ivan De Jesus Jr. being traded to the Red Sox as part of the deal that brought Adrian Gonzalez, Josh Beckett, Carl Crawford, and Nick Punto to Los Angeles. In addition to De Jesus, Boston will receive first baseman James Loney, Double-A pitcher Allen Webster, and two players to be named later.
A veteran of three straight seasons in Albuquerque, De Jesus was also enjoying a solid 2012 with the Isotopes, batting .295 with 12 doubles, three triples, three homers, and 33 RBI in 60 games. The versatile De Jesus saw action at four different positions for the "ËTopes, playing third, second, shortstop, and for the first time in his professional career, left field. De Jesus had also been hot lately, batting .354 in the month of August over 22 games. De Jesus also saw time in Los Angeles this year and played well, batting .273 with three doubles and four RBI in 23 games. On May 22, he helped deliver the Dodgers a win in Arizona with a game-winning pinch-hit three-run double.
