WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Jemile Weeks went 3-for-4 with a run, two RBIs, a double, a walk and a steal, but the River Cats lost to the Salt Lake Bees by a score of 4-3 on Friday night at Raley Field.

Salt Lake scored twice in the first and second innings, highlighted by a three-hit, two run first and back-to-back home runs in the second. Despite falling behind early, the River Cats threatened late.

Weeks, who led off the bottom of the first inning with a walk and a steal, doubled-home Jason Jaramillo and Jermaine Mitchell in the fourth inning to cut the Bees' lead in half. Weeks then scored his team's third run of the game when Stephen Parker drove him in with a single in the sixth. Despite putting a man in scoring position in the eighth and ninth innings, the River Cats were unable to bring the tying run home, ultimately falling, 4-3.

Weeks paced the River Cats offensively, driving in or scoring all three of the team's runs. Peterson was the only other River Cat to record multiple hits, going 2-for-5. Kila Ka'aihue reached base three times, going 1-for-3 with two walks.

Starter Bruce Billings suffered the loss, giving up four earned runs in six innings of work. Merkin Valdez and Pedro Figueroa combined for three scoreless innings of relief. 51s starter Matt Shoemaker tallied his 10th win of the year.

With 10 games left in the regular season, the River Cats have a 5.5-game lead over the Las Vegas 51s in the division. Sacramento's magic number stands at five.

The fourth game of the series will take place after a 4 p.m. Oktoberfest Block Party on Ballpark Drive at Raley Field, and before the final Sutter Health Postgame Fireworks show of the regular season on Saturday night. Sacramento righty Travis Banwart (8-5, 3.90 ERA) will face former River Cat and current Bees left-handed pitcher Greg Smith (8-9, 4.09 ERA).

Tickets for the River Cats' four potential 2012 home playoff games are available now at ticketmaster.com, over the phone at (916) 371-HITS and in person at Raley Field's Round Table Pizza Ticket Office.
