Omaha Storm Chasers News Release
OMAHA, Neb. - In front of a sold-out crowd of 9,023, the Omaha Storm Chasers were shutout by the New Orleans Zephyrs, 6-0, on Friday night. The Storm Chasers were held to a season-low two hits while Jake Odorizzi was hit for five runs over seven hits in 6.0 innings of work.
Anthony Seratelli went 1-for-4 while Rey Navarro collected a hit in three at-bats to make up all of Omaha's offense.
Friday's game featured two rain delays of an hour long but Zephyrs' (73-61) bats came out hot as Gil Velazquez started the game off with a lead-off home run to put the Chasers (78-56) in a quick 1-0 hole. Things stayed quiet until the top of the fourth when New Orleans tallied three more runs thanks to two RBI doubles and a run-scoring single by Shawn Bowman.
Omaha fell behind 5-0 in the sixth when Odorizzi gave up his second solo home run of the game.
Brandon Sisk came out of the bullpen in the seventh and gave up the Zephyrs' third solo big fly of the game to increase the home team's deficit to 6-0. Sisk worked two innings in relief and gave way to Tommy Hottovy who pitched a scoreless ninth inning.
