Ivan De Jesus Jr. finished a triple short of the cycle, but it was not enough as the Albuquerque Isotopes (66-50) allowed seven runs in the fourth inning, tying a season high for most tallies in one frame, and could never recover in a 10-8 loss to the Tucson Padres (45-70) on Sunday night at Isotopes Park. Oklahoma City also dropped its contest, so the teams remain separated by two and a half games in the PCL's American Southern Division.

Tucson opened up a 1-0 lead in the second on an RBI single from Beamer Weems, but the 'Topes immediately responded in the bottom half of the frame. Scott Van Slyke began the rally with a leadoff double and scored two batters later on a two-run blast from De Jesus Jr. that gave the Isotopes a 2-1 edge. After not having left the yard in his first 32 contests, De Jesus Jr. has now smashed two homers in a span of 10 games.

The Padres then blew the game wide open with a seven-run fourth, beginning with three consecutive singles from Matt Clark, Jeremy Hermida and Sawyer Carroll, the latter of which plated Clark and tied the score 2-2. With two runners on, Weems crushed a three-run dinger that put Tucson up 5-2. Robert Kral and pitcher Colt Hynes each followed with base knocks, and two batters later, Anthony Contreras ripped an RBI single that made it 6-2, Padres. Following a 'Topes pitching change, Andy Parrino collected a hit that brought in Hynes, and following a walk to Clark, Hermida lifted a sac-fly that capped off the huge frame with Tucson up big 8-2.

The visitors would add two more in the fifth before Albuquerque scored in three consecutive innings. Trailing 10-2, the Isotopes scored a pair of runs in the bottom half of the fifth when De Jesus Jr. came home on a groundout from Matt Angle and Elian Herrera smacked an RBI single to cut the deficit 10-4. The 'Topes then scored once in the sixth on an RBI knock from Tyler Henson and again in the seventh when Angle sprinted home on a wild pitch to bring Albuquerque within 10-6.

Following a scoreless eighth, the Isotopes flirted with a comeback in the bottom of ninth as Angle roped a leadoff double to left and took third on a flyout from Herrera. After Ozzie Martinez coaxed a one-out walk, Josh Fields grounded into a force out that plated Angle and trimmed the Padres' lead to 10-7. Van Slyke followed with an RBI double, bringing the 'Topes within 10-8, but Tucson reliever Neil Wagner fanned the final Albuquerque batter, preserving a 10-8 T-Pads win.

The 'Topes and Padres will continue their series tomorrow night. Isotopes right-hander Blake Johnson (3-0, 4.60) gets the ball against Tucson righty Bear Bay (2-7, 4.75) in a 7:05 PM start from Isotopes Park.

Albuquerque's splendid homestand continues with three more games against the Padres and features an Adult Fun Run on Tuesday! Tickets for any Isotopes game may be purchased at the Isotopes Park Box Office, at Ticketmaster outlets, by phone at 1-800-745-3000, or online at www.abqisotopes.com or www.ticketmaster.com .
