Des Moines, IA - The Chicago Cubs optioned OF Tony Campana to Iowa yesterday, and called up OF Brett Jackson and INF Josh Vitters to Chicago.

Campana, who will leadoff and play center field tonight against Reno, was the last player to leave the Cubs big league camp during spring training and opened the season at Iowa. The 26-year-old hit .304 (17-for-56) with one homer and three RBI in 14 games as an I-Cub to earn a promotion to Chicago on April 21. In 70 games with the big Cubs, Campana is hitting .259 (41-for-158) and leads the team with 26 stolen bases.

Both Jackson and Vitters, who are California natives, made their major league debuts in the Cubs' 7-6 loss at Dodgers Stadium yesterday. The pair are the sixth and seventh I-Cubs to receive their first major league call-up during the 2012 campaign.

Jackson started for the Cubs in center field and hit second in the lineup. The Cubs' top prospect, according to Baseball America, and 2009 first round draft selection, went 2-for-4 with a run scored. Jackson is hitting .256 (104-for-407) with 15 home runs, 47 RBI and a league leading 12 triples in 106 games with the I-Cubs this year.

Vitters flew out to left yesterday, entering the game as a pinch hitter in the seventh inning for his only at-bat. The 2007 first round draft pick is boasting a .304 (126-for-415) batting average with 17 homers, 68 RBI and is tied for second in the PCL with 51 extra-base hits and 110 games played with Iowa during his first Triple-A season.

The Cubs and Aces play game two of a four-game series tonight at Principal Park. Frankie De La Cruz (1-5, 3.83) will take the mound for Iowa against Reno's Trevor Bauer (4-0, 2.90) at 7:05 p.m.
