(New Britain, CT) - New Britain sent ten batters to the plate and scored five runs in the third inning to go ahead to stay as the Rock Cats topped the Trenton Thunder, 8-4, Friday night at steamy New Britain Stadium to win the four-game series. Mikey O'Brien (4-2) allowed 11 hits and eight runs in four innings as the Thunder dropped three of four games in a series for the first time since mid-April.

David Adams' solo home run, his third of the series and the season, tied the score at 2 in the top of the third inning. But O'Brien allowed five hits, one walk and one hit batter in the bottom of the inning as New Britain went in front 7-2. Estarlin De Los Santos, James Beresford and Aaron Hicks each had RBI hits during the rally.

Addison Maruszak drilled his sixth homer of the season, a two-run blast to left-center, in the top of the fourth to bring the Thunder back within 7-4. But Chris Colabello led off the bottom of the fourth with a triple and Evan Bigley singled him home against O'Brien to conclude the scoring.

Logan Darnell (7-6) allowed four runs and four hits in six innings to earn the win for the Rock Cats, which have now won eight of their last nine games. Daniel Turpen threw two scoreless innings to finish the victory.

Trenton continues the nine-game road trip Saturday night by beginning a five-game series against the Portland Sea Dogs. Game one will be 6:00 pm, with right-hander Dellin Betances (NR) expected to start for Trenton against lefty Chris Hernandez (4-6). Radio coverage on 91.3 FM (WTSR) and also streaming online begins at 5:45 pm.
