Rome, GA - The Rome Braves were defeated by the Greenville Drive 5-2 Thursday afternoon before a crowd of 2,304 fans. The Drive broke out early in the first inning, plating two on an RBI double by Garin Cecchini to score Keury De La Cruz and a base hit by David Renfroe that scored Cecchini for the 2-0 tally. Greenville would add a pair of runs again in the third, highlighted by an RBI double by Drew Turocy, The Drive added a single run in the fourth for a 5-0 advantage. The Braves broke into the scoring column in the sixth inning as Tony Mueller singled and later scored after a base hit by Kyle Kubitza and an RBI single by Robby Hefflinger for the 5-1 score. Rome would cut into the lead even further in the eighth after an RBI single by Brandon Drury would plate Fernando De Los Santos, but it wouldn't be enough as Greenville sat down the Braves in the ninth to win 5-2.
Scott Swinson (3-0) would earn his third victory of the year for the Drive, pitching six quality innings while only surrendering one run. Ryan Weber (1-2) gave up nine hits and five runs in five innings while recording the loss. New Rome Brave Matt Talley came on in the eighth and struck out three of the seven batters he faced.
