ZEBULON, NC - The Dash's offense exploded with three home runs and 12 hits to beat Carolina 7-5 and take game one of a three-game series Friday night at Five County Stadium.

Winston-Salem (26-19) used a three-run fifth inning to ultimately put the game out of reach.Juan Silveriosmacked a ball off the center field wall for his first triple of the season.Daniel Wagnerfollowed by poking a ball into left field to score Silverio. After a Brady Shoemakersacrifice fly,Mike Blankeripped a double off the wall to plate Sanchez and give the Dash a 6-0 lead.

The Dash were forced into a unique situation to start the game when starting pitcherJake Petrickawas hit on the right elbow on a line drive from leadoff man Tyler Holt. Petricka was lifted from the game to check on the elbow, andJustin Collopentered to retire the side. Collop (4-0) threw five dominant innings to keep the Mudcats bats silent. The right-hander struck out seven, a season-high for a Dash reliever, and allowed only three hits.

Carolina (22-24) was kept off the board for five innings but got a solo home run from Carlos Moncrief in the seventh to make it a 6-1 game before the offense awoke in the eighth. With two men on and nobody out, Jesus Aguilar roped a ball off the right field wall for a two-run triple. Moncrief delivered again, doubling home Aguilar before stealing third. Moncrief reached home on an infield groundball and the Dash lead was cut to 7-5.

Black put the Dash ahead 1-0 in the second inning with a leadoff solo blast that ricocheted off the scoreboard in left field. Black's team-high 8th home run of the season was his first long ball since April 30. The first baseman led off the fourth and promptly crushed a ball over the left field wall for his first multi-home run game of the season.

Silverio continued to rake the ball for the Dash with a leadoff home run in the third inning to push his hit streak to nine games and extend an RBI streak to six straight contests.

The Dash go for the series win tomorrow night when southpawSpencer Arroyo(2-2, 5.65 ERA) gets the ball for Winston-Salem. The Mudcats counter with left-hander Mike Rayl (3-5, 3.83 ERA). First pitch is slated for 6:15.

Winston-Salem returns home to BB&T Ballpark for an eight-game homestand beginning with a Memorial Day doubleheader. First pitch on Monday, May 28 is set for 4:00 p.m.
