'Wolves Back to .500 Thanks to Clutch Hitting

The SeaWolves used late inning dramatics once again as they won their second straight game over the Reading Phillies, 4-2 on Wednesday night at Jerry Uht Park. The win puts the SeaWolves record back at the .500 mark.The SeaWolves struck first in the bottom of the second inning against Reading starter David Buchanan. Rawle Bishop grounded into a fielder's choice and reached second on an error. He moved to third on a Rob Brantly single and scored on a Brandon Douglas groundout for a 1-0 lead.
Reading tied the game in the top of the third against Erie starter James Avery. With two outs, Troy Hanzawa was hit by a pitch and he scored on a Tyson Gillies knock, tying the game at 1-1.
Erie went back ahead in the last of the third. Corey Jones led off with a single but was erased on a force at second with Jamie Johnson reaching safely at first. Johnson moved into scoring position on a groundout and moved to third on a wild pitch. Ben Guez singled home Johnson for a 2-1 lead.
Reading tied the game again in the top of the seventh, again with two outs. Leandro Castro led off with a double and he scored on a two-out Gillies single making it 2-2
The SeaWolves regained the lead in the bottom of the eighth. Niuman Romero led off with a single and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Guez walked putting two on. A double steal advanced the runners into scoring position and Bishop put the 'Wolves back on top with an opposite-field base hit to right, plating the pair.
Austin Wood (1-0), who replaced Avery in the seventh, tossed a scoreless ninth earning his first win.
Avery took the no-decision tossing six-plus innings, allowing two runs on seven hits with no walks and four strikeouts.
The SeaWolves look for the series win on Thursday morning at Jerry Uht Park.11:05 AM First Pitch. Lefty Kelvin De La Cruz (2-5, 4.35 ERA) takes the mound for Erie against RHP Julio Rodriguez (3-0, 1.88 ERA).
