
Lansing Double up Dragons 6-3

Dayton, Ohio-Lansing's Chris Schaeffer collected two doubles and a single as the Lugnuts defeated the Dayton Dragons 6-3 on Sunday afternoon. A crowd of 8,194 saw the game at Fifth Third Field. Lansing has won the first two games of the four-game series.
The Dragons trailed 6-1 going to the bottom of the ninth inning, then rallied for two runs and had the tying run in the on-deck circle when the final out was recorded.
Lansing scored an unearned run in the first inning, then added two more in the third and one in the fourth to jump out to a 4-0 lead.
The Dragons got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fourth when Steve Selsky singled to center field with two outs to bring in Joe Terry from second to make it 4-1. But Lansing answered with an unearned run in the fifth and added one in the top of the ninth to build a 6-1 lead.
In the Dayton half of the ninth, Juan Silva reached on an infield single with one out and went to third on Nick O'Shea's long double to the fence in left-center field. Jefry Sierra grounded out to shortstop to drive in Silva, and O'Shea scored on Juan Perez's infield single to make it 6-3. But Brandon Dailey popped out foul to first base to end the game.
Dragons starting pitcher Dan Jensen (1-3) worked the first three and two-thirds innings, allowing three hits and four runs (three earned) with three walks and no strikeouts to suffer the loss.
Lansing starter David Rollins (3-0) earned the win, allowing one run in five innings on four hits with a walk and a strikeout.
The Dragons collected eight hits to outhit the Lugnuts 8-7. Selsky and Silva each had two hits. Perez had one hit to extend his hitting streak to five straight games. Lansing's Chris Hawkins had three singles and drove in three runs.
The Dragons fell to 14-23 with the loss. Lansing improved to 25-11.
The series continues on Monday as the Dragons host the Lugnuts at 7:00 p.m. at Fifth Third Field (WONE 980 AM Radio). Radhames Quezada (1-3, 2.50) will start for Dayton against Lansing's Marcus Walden (2-1, 2.56). The series concludes Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
