
Sabourin's First Professional HR Lifts Lake County

Lake County Captains News Release
(Eastlake, OH) - Jerrud Sabourin's first professional homer lifted the Captains over the Loons on Sunday in Eastlake. Sabourin hit the two run homer in the sixth inning and un-tied the ballgame. Going into the inning the ballgame was tied at 3-3. Sabourin also walked and stole a base on the day and had three RBI's on the day.
The Captains scored first when Jordan Smith singled and was moved to second base on a balk. Leonardo Castillo singled home Smith with two outs to give the Captains a 1-0 lead after two innings.
In the fourth inning Great Lakes tied the ballgame on a solo homerun by Scott Schebler. It was Schebler's third homer of the season. In the bottom half of the inning Lake County re-took the lead. Jordan Smith and Bryson Myles hit singles to begin the inning Jordan Casas and Jerrud Sabourin hit ground balls to knock in two runs for Lake County and the score was 3-1 Captains.
The Loons tied the game in the top half of the sixth inning. The Big hit in the inning was a double by Jesse Bosnik. Bosnik later scored the tying run of the game on a passed ball by Alex Monsalve. After five and a half innings it was a 3-3 ballgame. That set the stage for Sabourin.
In the ninth inning, Great Lakes got a solo homerun off the bat of Kevin Taylor. That cut the Captains lead to 5-4. That turned out to be the final score as Jeff Johnson slammed the door for his fifth save of the season.
The Loons sent RHP Jose Dominguez (2-2) to the hill. His line was 3.2 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 3BB, 4K. He got a no decision. The loss went to Raydel Sanchez (0-1). Sanchez gave up the homerun to Jerrud Sabourin. The Loons used a total of four pitchers on the day.
LHP Elvis Araujo (0-4) did not factor in the decision for the Captains. Araujo went 4.0 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 4 BB, 3K. Manny Carmona made his Captains debut. He went 1.2 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 1 K. Rob Nixon got the win for Lake County. It was Nixon's first of the season as a Captain. He went 2.1 IP, 1H,1 BB, 3 K. Johnson entered in the ninth.
The home stand continues on Monday with Buck Night, presented by PNC, featuring $1 Five Star Brand Hot Dogs, chips, French fries, popcorn, soda and beer. RHP Joe Colon (3-3,3.32) will get the ball Lake County and RHP Ryan O'Sullivan (2-2,2.52) will start for Great Lakes Game time is 6:30 PM.
