Tacoma Rainiers News Release

TACOMA, Wash. - Andrew Carraway allowed just one hit over 7.1 scoreless innings in his Triple-A debut, leading the Tacoma Rainiers to a 1-0 win over the Albuquerque Isotopes in front of a sell-out crowd of 7,225 fans at Cheney Stadium on Friday night.

The win snaps a season-high seven-game losing skid for the Rainiers that began on May 4.

Carraway retired the first 18 Isotopes batters he faced over 6.0 perfect innings before giving up a lead-off single to third baseman Elian Herrera in the top of the seventh. He ended the night striking out four batters and walking one in the contest.

The start was Carraway's first with the Rainiers since transferring from Double-A Jackson on May 10. Prior to his promotion to Tacoma, the University of Virginia product ranked ninth in the Southern League with a 2.68 ERA and ranked tied for second in wins following a 4-0 start with the Generals.

Reliever Oliver Perez surrendered two hits over 1.2 innings in the eighth and ninth en route to collecting his first save as a professional since his 2000 season with Yucatan in the Mexican League.

Catcher Guillermo Quiroz accounted for all the offense the Rainiers would need after hitting a solo home run with two outs in the bottom of fourth- his sixth this season.

Tacoma added some insurance with three runs in the eighth inning. Trayvon Robinson and Carlos Triunfel each scored on a wild pitches thrown by Isotopes reliever Shawn Tolleson, and Quiroz drove in another run with an RBI-single.

Quiroz ended the night leading a Rainiers lineup that combined for six hits after going 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI.

The Rainiers (12-23) open the second half of the club's eight-game homestand on Saturday, May 12, when they welcome the Round Rock Express to Cheney Stadium for a four-game set. Right-hander Erasmo Ramirez (0-0, 6.00) is slated to start for Tacoma against Round Rock left-hander Martin Perez (3-2, 3.98). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
