Tacoma Rainiers News Release

TACOMA, Wash. -- Luis Jimenez's four hits and five RBI were not enough for the Rainiers to avoid a 13-10 loss to the Reno Aces at Aces Ballpark on Monday.

The defeat completes a four-game series sweep for the Aces over the Rainiers and stretches Tacoma's losing skid to a season-high four games.

Jimenez recorded three extra-base hits in the Rainiers series finale at Reno, including a three-run home run in the fifth inning that cut a 7-3 Aces lead down to just a run. Outfielder Mario Yepez's sacrifice fly in the sixth tied the game at 7-7 until the Aces pulled ahead for good with three runs in the bottom of the frame.

The designated hitter Jimenez has now hit safely in each of his last eight games, equaling Carlos Triunfel's hitting streak from earlier this season as the longest strung together by a Rainiers player in 2012. Jimenez is batting .483 (14x29) with three home runs and 11 RBI over that eight-game stretch.

As a team, Tacoma recorded 13 hits against the Aces on Monday, with Triunfel, Chih-Hsien Chiang and Luis Rodriguez all turning two-hit efforts. Catcher Guillermo Quirzo hit his fourth home run of the season - a solo shot - in the second inning that gave the Rainiers an early 1-0 lead.

Reliever Cesar Jimenez was dealt his first loss of the season after surrendering the go-ahead runs to Reno in the bottom of the sixth. Starter Erasmo Ramirez surrendered two runs on six hits over 3.0 innings in his first appearance with Tacoma since being optioned from the Mariners last Saturday.

The Rainiers (11-20) return to Cheney Stadium on Tuesday, May 8 to begin an eight-game homestand that starts with a four-game set against the Albuquerque Isotopes (19-13). Right-hander Jeff Marquez (2-2, 5.87) is slated to start for Tacoma in the series opener with against Isotopes right-hander Will Savage (5-0, 5.34). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
