Nashville Sounds News Release
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Nashville Sounds return home to Greer Stadium this Tuesday, May 8, to open an eight-game homestand against the Colorado Springs Sky Sox (Rockies affiliate) and Reno Aces (Diamondbacks affiliate) of the Pacific Coast League Northern Division.
Highlighting the week's worth of promotions will be two fireworks shows, two Reading Club Games, and Taco Bell Throwback Thursday.
The Sounds welcome the Colorado Springs Sky Sox to Nashville for the only time in 2012 for Tuesday's homestand opener. It will be a Tornados Tuesday 2-For-1 Tickets, when fans can bring a receipt with proof of Tornado snack food purchase to the Sounds box office and receive two tickets for the price of one. Game time at 7:05 p.m. and gates open at 6:05 p.m.
Wednesday morning's 11:05 a.m. game marks the first of three day games of the homestand. For Education Day, students in attendance will have the opportunity to participate in a pregame parade with Ozzie and receive an Education Day workbook presented by the Nashville Sounds Foundation. Sounds email newsletter subscribers and social media followers will receive the "Steal Of The Week," at Greer Stadium for Wednesday games for #WebWednesday. Gates open a half-hour earlier than normal at 9:35 a.m.
Sounds players will be wearing retro 1980s-style uniforms for Taco Bell Throwback Thursday while fans enjoy concession stands filled with discounted pricing, such as $2 beer, $2 soft drinks, $2 hot dogs, $2 popcorn, and $2 nachos. Beer sales will conclude at the end of the 6th inning, while Slugger's Sports Bar will sell until the end of game. Fans with Taco Bell receipts and college students with valid college IDs will receive $5 general admission tickets to the game. Game time is 7:05 p.m. and gates open at 6:05 p.m.
Friday's 7:05 p.m. series finale against the Sky Sox marks the first of back-to-back Reading Club games, offering students the chance to participate in an on-field, pre-game parade with Ozzie. Students are eligible to win prizes for reaching "home plate" in the program. The first fireworks show of the homestand will immediately follow the game. Gates open at 6:05 p.m.
Kids are offered another chance to win prizes on the third Reading Club Game of the homestand for Saturday's series opener against the Reno Aces. With nearly 65,000 students from over 225 different schools enrolled in the program, thousands of local kids will be in attendance. Combined with postgame fireworks, courtesy of Nashville's NEWS 2, Saturday evening is another can't miss night at the ballpark with the Nashville Sounds! Gates open at 5:35 p.m.
Gildan, the official sponsor of Triple-A Baseball, is giving Mom the chance to look good and feel good for Sunday's 2:05 p.m. contest on Mother's Day. Gildan will be offering five-minute massages and manicures for mom throughout the game. While mom is busy getting pampered, children will have the chance to make their own t-shirt for mom, as Gildan provides kids with a child size t-shirt that reads, "I love my mom because..." and have a space where kids can color in or write why they love their mom.
The family-friendly Faith & Family Sunday will also occur. Fans receive half off of reserved or general admission tickets when a church or community bulletin is displayed at the box office. Limit eight tickets per bulletin and only redeemable on the day of game. Gates open at 1:05 p.m.
Monday's evening's 7:05 p.m. contest with the Aces is the third game of a four-game series and is Dollar Hot Dog Night, when hot dogs continue to be $1 at concession stands all night long. Gates open at 6:05 p.m.
The Sounds conclude their eight-game homestand with another Education Day and Tornados Tuesday 2-For-1 Tickets, when fans can bring a receipt with proof of Tornado snack food purchase to the Sounds box office and receive two tickets for the price of one. Game time is at 11:05 a.m. and gates open a half-hour earlier than normal at 9:35 a.m.
Following the homestand, Nashville will travel out west to begin an eight-game road trip with the Tucson Padres (Padres affiliate) and Las Vegas 51s (Blue Jays affiliate) before returning to home on Tuesday, May 25 to host a four-game homestand against the Round Rock Express (Astros affiliate).
Individual and season tickets, as well as group packages, are currently on sale. Call (615) 690-HITS or visit the Sounds' website at www.nashvillesounds.com/tickets to order or for more information.
