Akron's Cody Allen Promoted

April 29, 2012 - Eastern League (EL1)
Akron RubberDucks News Release

AKRON, OH - The Cleveland Indians announced Sunday that Akron Aeros righthanded reliever Cody Allen has been promoted to the Triple-A Columbus Clippers.

Allen, 23, appeared in five games for the Aeros, going 0-0, 1.17 ERA, with one save. In 7 2/3 innings, he allowed just one run, struck out ten hitters, and walked none. Prior to joining the Aeros, Allen pitched in two games to start the season at high-A Carolina. With the Mudcats, Allen pitched four shutout innings with eight K's and no walks.

Allen is just a second-year pro, following his selection in the 23rd round of the 2011 draft. As a junior in 2011, Allen was a second-team all conference player at High Point (NC) University.

Today's move represents Allen's first appearance at the Triple-A level.

The Aeros roster now stands at 23 players. An updated Aeros roster and transaction list is attached.

The Aeros will conclude a three-game series with Altoona with a doubleheader at Canal Park on Sunday afternoon at 1:05. The homestand will continue Monday, April 30th, when Binghamton comes to town for the start of a four-game series. All Aeros games are broadcast on Fox Sports 1350 AM and online at www.akronaeros.com. For more information, please call the Aeros at 330-253-5151.
