FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Zach Kometani's three-run home run Tuesday night lifted the Fort Wayne TinCaps to a 4-1 win over the Dayton Dragons. Justin Miller also provided an RBI double, as the TinCaps erased a four-game losing streak. Adys Portillo pitched four and two thirds innings, striking out a career-high nine batters, holding Dayton to no runs and just four hits during his outing.

The Fort Wayne (4-8) relief core of Luis De La Cruz (1-1), Colin Rea, and Matt Stites worked three and one third innings to secure the victory. Stites, working the ninth, struck out two batters and recorded his first save of the year.

The ballgame was scoreless through the first three innings and in the bottom of the fourth against Dayton's Radhames Quezada (0-1), Fort Wayne's Travis Whitmore led off with a double. Duanel Jones then walked, which set up Kometani's first home run of the year. The fourth Fort Wayne run came across on Miller's RBI double in the fifth inning, to push the lead to 4-0. Miller, who began the season 4-28, finished a home run shy of the cycle.

The Dragons' lone run of the night scored in the sixth inning, when Juan Perez was walked with the bases loaded. Dayton (5-7) finished the night 0-11 with runners in scoring position, and left 15 men on base.

With a chance to win the three-game series, the TinCaps send righty Joe Ross to the mound on Wednesday morning against Dayton's lone southpaw, Tanner Robles. First pitch at Parkview Field is scheduled for 11:05 am.
