Chicago Express Cease Operations
April 6, 2012 - ECHL (ECHL) News Release
PRINCETON, N.J. - The ECHL confirmed on Friday that the Chicago Express has withdrawn its Membership from the ECHL, effective immediately. The Express' withdrawal occurs at the end of their current Affiliation Agreement, and was done in accordance with ECHL Bylaws.
In recent months, the ECHL announced the addition of Expansion Memberships in San Francisco and Orlando for play in the 2012-13 season.
All other Members who participated in the ECHL during the 2011-12 season will return for the 2012-13 season. Work is well underway on the 2012-13 playing schedule, which will be released in the near future.
The ECHL would like to thank Craig Drecktrah, his management team, the Sears Centre and the Village of Hoffman Estates for their hard work and cooperation during their time in the ECHL.
As outlined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement with the Professional Hockey Players' Association, all Chicago players on ECHL contracts are hereby deemed unrestricted free agents effective immediately.
