LAST WEEK'S HIGHLIGHTS

@ Adirondack (2/17): The Manchester Monarchs lost the first contest of three games in three nights, 5-1, to the Adirondack Phantoms at the Glens Falls Civic Center on Friday night. Right wing Brandon Kozun scored the lone goal for the Monarchs. The Phantoms registered goals from right wing Shane Harper, defenseman Brandon Manning, left wing Garrett Roe and right wing Matthew Ford (two). Monarchs goaltender Jeff Zatkoff (15-11-1) took his 11th loss of the season stopping 23-of-28 shots. Monarchs goaltender Martin Jones entered the game for Zatkoff following the Phantoms fifth goal and made saves on all three shots faced Phantoms netminder Jason Bacashihua (8-7-1) earned his eighth win of the season making 30 saves on 31 shots. Manchester went 0-for-6 on the power play. Adirondack was 1-for-8 with the man advantage.

vs. Hershey (2/18): The Manchester Monarchs dropped their fourth straight game with a 2-1 loss at the hands of the Hershey Bears at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Saturday night. Center Justin Azevedo scored the lone goal for the Monarchs. Center Ryan Potulny scored both goals for the Bears. Monarchs goaltender Martin Jones (13-14-1) took his 14th loss of the season stopping 39-of-41 shots. Bears netminder Braden Holtby (19-11-1) earned his 19th victory of the season making 33 saves on 34 shots. Manchester went 0-for-3 on the power play. Hershey was 2-for-3 with the man advantage.

vs. Adirondack (2/19): The Manchester Monarchs dropped their second game in three nights against the Adirondack Phantoms, 5-2, at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Sunday afternoon. Right wing Brandon Kozun and right wing Linden Vey scored the goals for the Monarchs. The Phantoms recorded goals from forward Tye McGinn, forward Tyler Brown, right wing Shane Harper and right wing Matthew Ford (two). Monarchs goaltender Jeff Zatkoff (15-12-1) took his 12th loss of the season stopping 23-of-28 shots. Phantoms netminder Michael Leighton (16-19-0) earned his 16th win of the season making 31 saves on 33 shots. Manchester went 1-for-7 on the power play. Adirondack was 3-for-8 with the man advantage.

MONARCHS NEWS & NOTES

The Manchester Monarchs (28-26-0-2) are ranked second in the Atlantic Division with 58 points. The St. John's IceCaps (33-13-5-1) are in first place in the division with 72 points. The Worcester Sharks (24-17-4-5) rank third in the division with 57 points. The Providence Bruins (25-23-3-3) are in fourth place in the division with 56 points. The Portland Pirates (24-23-3-3) sit in fifth place in the division with 54 points.

At the Verizon Wireless Arena this season, Manchester owns a 15-13-0-1 record.

The Monarchs are currently on a five-game losing-streak, including their fourth straight loss at home on Sunday against the Adirondack Phantoms. The four consecutive home losses tie a franchise record at the Verizon Wireless Arena.

This season, the Monarchs are 19-6-0-2 in games that have been decided by one goal.

Manchester is 17-12-0-2 against Atlantic Division teams this season.

Manchester is 16-4-0-2 in games when they have led after the first period and 16-0-0-1 when leading after the second period.

Kozun is tied for 11th in the AHL with five first goals of the game.

Kozun's six power play tallies lead the team.

Right wing Linden Vey (14-17=31) is third on the team with 31 points.

Vey is ranked in third place on the Monarchs with 14 goals.

Vey has nine points (3-6=9) in his last nine games for the Monarchs.

Left wing Dwight King (11-18=29) and defenseman Patrick Mullen (7-22=29) are tied for fourth place on the Monarchs with 29 points each.

King was recalled by the Los Angeles Kings on Friday, February 10 and made his season debut against the New York Islanders on Saturday, February 11.

King scored his first NHL goal in a 4-2 victory against the Dallas Stars on Sunday, February 12.

King has recorded two points (1-1=2) in 10 career NHL contests with both points coming on Sunday, February 12.

Mullen leads Monarchs defensemen with seven goals, 22 assists and 29 points this season.

Mullen's 22 assists rank first on the team.

Center Justin Azevedo (11-13$) is ranked sixth on the Monarchs with 24 points.

Azevedo is tied for seventh place on the Monarchs all-time assist list (85) and is ranked eighth on the Monarchs all-time points list (140).

Right wing Jordan Nolan (9-13=22) is ranked seventh on the Monarchs with 22 points.

Nolan's 119 penalty minutes rank third with the Monarchs and is 18th in the league.

Nolan was recalled by the Kings on Friday, February 10.

Nolan made his NHL debut against the Islanders on Saturday, February 11.

Nolan scored his first professional goal in a 4-2 victory against the Stars on Sunday, February 12. The tally was also the game-winning goal.

Defenseman Thomas Hickey (2-18=20) is tied with King and Cliche for second place on the Monarchs with 18 assists each.

Hickey is ranked eighth on the team and second amongst defenseman with 20 points.

Hickey leads the Monarchs with a plus/minus rating of plus-12. Hickey was named to the Eastern Conference Team at the 2012 AHL All-Star Classic in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The 2012 AHL All-Star Skills Competition was Sunday, January 29 which resulted in an 18-10 Western Conference victory. The Western Conference topped the Eastern Conference, 8-7 in a shootout, in the 2012 AHL All-Star Classic game on Monday, January 30.

Center Robbie Czarnik (7-10=17) is tied with defenseman Jake Muzzin (4-13=17) for ninth on the Monarchs in scoring with 17 points each.

Defenseman David Kolomatis (4-12=16) is ranked 11th on the Monarchs with 16 points.

Center Andrei Loktionov (3-11=14), defenseman Andrew Campbell (2-12=14) and left wing Ray Kaunisto (3-11=14) are tied for 12th place on the Monarchs with 14 points each.

Loktionov was recalled by Los Angeles on Monday, November 14 and has recorded six points (2-4=6) and two penalty minutes in 37 games this season.

In 57 career games with the Kings, Loktionov has 13 points (6-7=13) and four penalty minutes.

Campbell ranks third on the Monarchs all-time games played list with 278 and has appeared in all 56 games for the Monarchs this season.

Left wing Richard Clune (4-4=8) leads the team and is in third place in the AHL with 169 penalty minutes.

Defenseman Slava Voynov (2-2=4) was returned to Manchester on Friday, February 10. Voynov was recalled to the Kings on November 15. In 33 games with Los Angeles this season, Voynov has 11 points (4-7=11) and eight penalty minutes.

Right wing Justin Johnson (1-2=3) is second on the team and fifth in the AHL with 157 penalty minutes.

Goaltender Martin Jones owns a 13-14-1 record, a 2.81 goals-against-average and a .913 save percentage in 31 games for the Monarchs.

Monarchs netminder Jeff Zatkoff has registered a record of 15-12-1, a 2.50 goals-against-average and a .919 save percentage in 32 games.

Zatkoff's .919 save percentage is tied for 10th in the league and his 2.50 goals-against-average is 15th in the AHL.

Zatkoff's 3-1 shootout record is ranked eighth in the AHL.

Zatkoff was named to the Eastern Conference Team at the 2012 AHL All-Star Classic in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The 2012 AHL All-Star Skills Competition was Sunday, January 29 which resulted in an 18-10 Western Conference victory. The Western Conference topped the Eastern Conference, 8-7 in a shootout, in the 2012 AHL All-Star Classic game on Monday, January 30.

Zatkoff made 17 saves on 20 shots during the second period of the 2012 AHL All-Star Classic game.
