Hershey Bears News Release
The HERSHEY BEARS Hockey Club finished 1-1-0-1 in the first three games of five in a row on the road. The team suffered a tough loss on Friday at Providence, falling 6-0 to the Bruins. Dany Sabourin made 21 saves on 24 shots before being relieved by Braden Holtby. The BEARS rebounded with a hard-fought 2-1 win over the Manchester Monarchs on Saturday night, helped by Ryan Potulny's two power-play goals and Holtby's 33 saves. The road trip concluded on Sunday with a 2-1 shootout loss at Bridgeport. Chris Bourque and Sound Tigers forward David Ullstrom traded second-period power-play goals for the only offense in regulation. Jon Landry beat Holtby on the fifth round final shot to earn the win. Holtby again was in top form, making 37 saves in regulation and overtime. The BEARS renew the oldest AHL rivalry when they visit the Rochester Americans on Wednesday, and then conclude their road swing with a visit to Cleveland on Thursday for a battle with the Lake Erie Monsters. Only two points separate HERSHEY, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and Norfolk for the East Division lead heading into this week, and the Admirals will visit GIANT Center on Saturday to wrap up the BEARS' February home schedule.
Potulny Pots Pair, Again:
C Ryan Potulny scored two power play goals on Saturday to help the BEARS to a 2-1 win at Manchester. His 10 power play goals rank fourth on the squad, and the two-goal performance was his eighth of this season.
Holt-ing the Fort:
G Braden Holtby allowed just one goal in Sunday's 2-1 shootout loss at Bridgeport, which was the fourth consecutive start in which the opposition managed one goal against him. In those starts, Holtby is 3-0-1 with a 0.98 GAA and .970 save percentage, stopping 129 of 133 shots.
Bourque Bolts to Top:
LW Chris Bourque scored two goals and added an assist this weekend to move into the AHL scoring lead with 72 points (24+48).
Finishing Up North:
The BEARS conclude their schedule against North Division opponents this week. The team owns one win against the Rochester Americans and one loss against the Lake Erie Monsters.
