Urbandale (IA) Central Iowa ladies reach into the closest for that favorite outfit and get ready to proudly show it off at Buccaneer Arena on Saturday January 21st. The Des Moines Buccaneers hockey team is showing a classier side thanks to the help of a few local partners on Wine, Women and Hockey Night presented by KCWI.
Women (and men) ages 21 & over are invited to sign-up for a pregame party in the arena lounge which will showcase Jasper County wine sampling. All women who register will receive a complimentary gift bag from Christopher's Fine Jewelry including a pair of snowflake earrings and Buccaneers' head coach Regg Simon will give a quick lecture on hockey rules and strategy.
The event runs from 5:00pm-6:15pm and interested parties may call the Buccaneers at 278-2827 to register.
The event costs $20 per person and includes a ticket to the Buccaneers' game against Youngstown which immediately follows the party at 7:00pm
"The wife of our head coach came to us with this idea over the summer and thanks to KCWI, Jasper Winery and Christopher's we were able to make it happen" said Buccaneers' VP Sales and Communications Scott Montesano. "The interest in the event has already been fantastic."
While the event is geared towards women, men need not fear being discriminated against as they too are welcome.
"We've already had a few men ask if they can come with their girlfriends and the answer is yes" added Montesano. "You don't even need a girlfriend; this might be a great way to meet a woman. At least your odds will be good."
The Buccaneers are 11-13-3 on the season and return to the ice this Friday at Muskegon and Saturday at Ann Arbor, MI facing the Under 18 National Team.
The Des Moines Buccaneers are playing their 32nd consecutive season in the United States Hockey League this season. Since 1980, the Buccaneers have produced hundreds of NCAA Division I players and dozens of professional alumni.
