RedHawks Continue Series Against New Orleans-- The RedHawks scored a 7-6 win with a 3-run 9th yesterday....tonight is the 2nd of eight in a row between the squads to end the year...the clubs play four at Zephyr Field before returning to Bricktown for the final four...New Orleans owns a 6-3 advantage in the series, winning the previous two series...yesterday marked the first meeting between the two since June 20...
Tonight's Probable Pitchers-- RedHawks starter Dallas Keuchel (5G, 5GS, 0-1, 9.26 ERA) looks to build on his best outing of the year for OKC tonight...the lefty held Iowa to one run and scattered four hits in a seven innings of a no decision on August 25...after allowing 18 runs in a total of 5.1 innings in his first two starts (30.38 ERA), Keuchel has settled in in his last three outings, allowing six runs in 18 innings...Zephyrs starter Elih Villanueva (26G, 26GS, 7-10, 5.35 ERA) will make his third start against OKC...the right-hander is 0-2 with a 4.15 ERA against the RedHawks...Villanueva's last two decisions are victories...he held the Reno Aces to one run over 8.2 innings, his longest outing of the year.
Last Game: August 30 - Oklahoma City RedHawks 7, New Orleans Zephyrs 6-- The RedHawks rallied with three runs in the ninth to beat the Zephyrs 7-6...Chris Johnson had a monster game for OKC, belting his third home run, getting a pair of doubles and knocking in three runs for a 3x4 night...Ross Wolf picked up his third win in relief by tossing a scoreless eighth...Jeff Fulchino earned his third save with a perfect ninth...NOLA closer Corey Madden blew his first save and dropped to 1-2...The RedHawks overcame a strong outing from NOLA starter Chris Sampson...the right hander dealt seven innings, holding OKC to three runs despite giving up 11 hits...Jorge Padilla paced the Zephyrs with a 3x4 night and 3 RBI...
Hernandez Streak at 27, PCL's Longest in 2011-- Andrson Hernandez increased his PCL-best hitting streak to 27 games with a first inning single...he finished last night's game 2x4...Hernandez has posted a .398 (47x118) average during the streak, raising his average from .277 to .306...The streak is the longest by an OKC player since the franchise joined the Pacific Coast League in 1998, and changed their name from 89ers to RedHawks....The PCL record for consecutive games batted safely in a single season is 61 by Joe DiMaggio of San Francisco May 28-July 25, 1933...
Finish Strong-- RedHawks outfielder Drew Locke has recorded a strong month of August, hitting at a .344 (31x90) pace...Locke was 1x1 with a pinch hit RBI double yesterday...Locke has eight doubles, four home runs and 24 RBI...the 24 RBI are six shy of his combined total for the previous four months, and rank as the highest monthly total in his AAA career...Locke belted three home runs (including a grand slam) and drove in 12 in two games against Tucson Aug. 8-9...Locke is batting .316 since the All-Star break, steadily raising his season average from .236 to .269.
Let's Take a Few With Us-- The RedHawks tied their season-high winning streak at five in a row with a 7-6 win against NOLA last night...OKC has won five straight twice before, the last being a victorious stretch from July 4-July 9...Since a series split with Las Vegas (Aug. 3-6), the RedHawks are 14-7, and have won three out of five series, splitting the other two...Round Rock clinched the American Southern division, eliminating the RedHawks from the postseason for the first time since 2009.
Too Close for Comfort-- The RedHawks have played in 53 one-run games in 2011, posting a 28-25 (.528) record in one run finals, the sixth best percentage in the PCL...The RedHawks are tied for the most one-run victories with Sacramento, but they own the second most one-run losses in the league...New Orleans ranks seventh, just behind OKC with a 23-22 (.511) record in one-run games...
Chalk it Up-- The Oklahoma City RedHawks won their 10th series of the year by going 4-1 against the Iowa Cubs at RedHawks Field...The RedHawks took six of nine in the long stretch against the Cubs...Oklahoma City has won five season series, besting Iowa (10-6), Albuquerque (9-7), Nashville (9-7), Reno (3-1) and Tucson (3-1)...On the other side, the RedHawks have dropped four season series, Memphis (5-11), Round Rock (6-10), Omaha (6-10) and Salt Lake (1-3)...
Del Rosario Continues Rehab Assignment-- Astros reliever Enerio Del Rosario has started a rehabilitation assignment with the RedHawks, recovering from a left shoulder strain...Del Rosario has made two appearances for OKC, tossing two scoreless innings...he allowed one hit in each...Del Rosario was placed on the 15-day disabled list August 6...In 44 games with Houston, Del Rosario is 0-2 with a 4.50 ERA (23ER/46.0IP)...
