New Orleans Baby Cakes News Release

Chris Johnson belted a go-ahead home run in the eighth inning, and the Oklahoma City RedHawks beat the New Orleans Zephyrs, 7-5 on Tuesday night at Zephyr Field.

The RedHawks pulled into a tie with the Zephyrs for third place in the division with six games remaining in the season.

Johnson, whose three hits and three RBI played a key role in the RedHawks' come-from-behind victory over the Zephyrs on Monday, homered for the third time in four games.

For the Zephyrs, it marked the third consecutive night they took a lead into the seventh inning but failed to hold on.

The Z's grabbed a 2-0 in the second on a two-run homer by Jorge Padilla, his first of the year.

Oklahoma City responded with four runs in the top of the third on RBI doubles by Anderson Hernandez and Brett Wallace, and a two-run homer by Drew Locke.

New Orleans came right back to tie the game in the fifth on the strength of another two-run homer, this time from Chris Coghlan. The Z's grabbed the lead in the sixth on an RBI single by Alex Romero, who extended his hitting streak to 12 games, the second-longest by a Zephyr this season.

But in keeping with the theme from the last few nights, the Zephyrs could not hold on for the win. Victor Garate loaded the bases with nobody out in the seventh, and a sacrifice fly by Wallace tied the game.

Garate was nicked for Johnson's home run to center field leading off the eighth, lifting the RedHawks into the lead. Oklahoma City added an insurance run J.B. Shuck's RBI single.

Samuel Gervacio (4-0) pitched a scoreless inning to pick up the win for the RedHawks, and Jose Valdez worked around a two-out walk in the ninth for his seventh save.

Garate (3-3) suffered his sixth blown save and took the loss.

The Zephyrs and RedHawks continue the series on Wednesday at 7 p.m., with Darin Downs (2-2, 5.53) making the start for New Orleans against Oklahoma City's Xavier Cedeno (2-2, 7.65).
