Hernandez's Gem Lifts Sacramento Past Las Vegas

WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Carlos Hernandez matched the longest outing by a River Cats starter this season (8.0 innings) as Sacramento topped Las Vegas, 13-1, on Monday night at Raley Field. Hernandez struck out six, walked none and allowed four hits and one run in 8.0 innings as Sacramento win its fourth game in a row. River Cat first baseman Chris Carter hit his 16th homer of the season to put Sacramento on the board in the first inning. Wes Timmons, who went the first 45 games without a home run, hit a grand slam in the third inning for his third home run in four games. Timmons, who had six RBIs on the night, put the River Cats ahead 9-0 with his grand slam. Landon Powell went 4-for-5 on the night, and lead-off hitter Jermaine Mitchell extended his hitting streak to 15 games. The South Division champion River Cats have won five of six games at Raley Field.
