Stone Temple Pilots, or STP, is a Grammy Award and American Music Award-winning band from San Diego, California that consists of Scott Weiland (lead vocals), brothers Robert DeLeo (bass guitar, vocals) and Dean DeLeo (guitar), and Eric Kretz (drums, percussion).
The band's early hard rock, grunge-reminiscent style of music found them immediate success in 1992 with the release of their debut album Core, which went on to be certified eight-times platinum by the RIAA and drove the band to international popularity. Core was released on September 29, 1992, and peaked at #3 on the Billboard Albums Chart, producing hits "Sex Type Thing," "Plush," "Creep", and "Wicked Garden." STP went on to become one of the most commercially successful rock bands of the 1990s, selling nearly 40 million records worldwide, including 17.5 million units in the United States.
The band has also produced albums Purple (1994), Tiny Music... Songs from the Vatican Gift Shop (1996), No. 4 (1999), Shangri-La Dee Da (2001), and their latest release, Stone Temple Pilots (2010).
This event continues the tradition of great artists who have performed at Classic Park since the stadium's opening in 2003, including Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp, Alice Cooper, Live, Collective Soul, Def Leppard, Bryan Adams and Jim Brickman. Classic Park is located on Route 91, just north of Route 2 in Eastlake, Ohio and is only 15 minutes from downtown Cleveland.
