Seven-Run Rally Gives Cubs Win, 11-10

Iowa Cubs News Release
The I-Cubs staged an improbable rally, scoring seven unanswered runs to come back and beat the Tucson Padres Friday night at Principal Park.
Down 10-4 after Tucson put up four runs in the top of the sixth, Iowa started its comeback. With two outs in the home frame, Steve Clevenger homered, his first at Principal Park this season, and Lou Montanez drove in Jonathan Mota after Mota doubled to follow Clevenger's blast.
Clevenger again sparked the I-Cub offense in the bottom of the eighth, as he hit a one-out RBI-double to score Bobby Scales. Clevenger moved to third on a groundout from Mota and scored on an RBI-double from Montanez to bring Iowa even closer at 10-8.
Tyler Colvin, in his second game as an Iowa Cub, doubled to lead off the ninth inning, but I-Cub sluggers Brad Snyder and Bryan LaHair both grounded out as it looked like the Cubs' rally would be stifled. With Iowa down to its last out Bobby Scales kept the game going with an RBI-single to plate Colvin and put Iowa down only one run.
Controversy followed as Scott Moore then smacked a line drive to left-center field that appeared to bounce off of the top of the outfield wall and back into the field of play. Scales scored on the hit to tie the game at 10 as Moore's hit was eventually ruled a triple. As Moore argued his case, he was ejected by third base umpire Tripp Gibson and Matt Camp came on to pinch-run.
Clevenger made the point mute as he promptly delivered his fourth hit of the night, an RBI-single, to give Iowa the walk-off win. The winning hit capped a monster night for Clevenger as he ended the game 4-for-5 with a home run, double, three RBI and two runs scored. It was his first-career four-hit game in triple-A baseball. Iowa collected 17 hits as a team, 10 of which were extra-base hits.
Esmailin Caridad (2-1, 8.31) picked up the win for Iowa as he pitched a 1-2-3 ninth inning. Luis Perdomo (0-3, 4.32) was charged with the loss and blown save for Tucson. It was the Padre's 13th blown save of the season.
Game three of this four-game series gets underway at Principal Park Saturday night. The 7:05 p.m. game will feature Padre RH Matt Buschmann (0-1, 12.60) match up against Cub LH J.R. Mathes (1-3, 9.68).
