Giants Shut Out Silvertips, 5-0

Vancouver, BC - Led by a 28 save shutout performance by Mark Segal, the Vancouver Giants defeated the Everett Silvertips 5-0 Sunday night. The Everett Silvertips conclude the 2010-2011 WHL regular season with a record of 28-33-7-4 with 67 points in 72 games played. Everett starts round one of the WHL playoffs against the Portland Winterhawks. The series will open at the Rose Garden for a pair of games on Saturday, March 26th (7:05 pm) and Sunday, March 27th (5:05 pm), before shifting back to Everett for games three and four. Dates and times of games to be played at Comcast Arena will be announced shortly

Brendan Gallagher scored his 44th goal of the season on the power play at 14:01 of the first period. Siemens made the first two saves after a scrum in front of the Everett net. Gallagher picked up the rebound and shoved in the puck for a 1-0 Giants lead.

Spencer Bennett scored his 36th goal of the year at 1:17 of the second period. Bennett went forehand to back hand and down low to beat Siemens for a 2-0 Vancouver lead. David Musil scored sixth of the season off a wrist shot from the top point that beat Siemens through traffic for a 3-0 Giants lead.

Bennett scored his second goal of the game at 10:23 of the third period. Bennett's goal came on the power play and gave Vancouver a 4-0 lead. Neil Manning scored on the power play at 17:01 to give the Giants a 5-0 lead.
