Jason Pitton Returned From Loan to Bridgeport

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, proud ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Edmonton Oilers and San Jose Sharks, announced left winger Jason Pitton (PITT-in) has been returned to the Thunder from loan to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League on a professional tryout agreement (PTO).

Additionally, it was announced that left winger Jesse Gimblett has been activated off injured reserve, center Craig Valette has been transferred to the 7-day injured reserve list, right winger Jim McKenzie has been placed on the three-day injured reserve list.

Pitton, 24, will suit up for the Thunder tomorrow (7:30 p.m.), who host the Alaska Aces at Stockton Arena (1280 KWSX/StocktonThunder.com).

The 6-foot-3, 230-pound forward originally left the Thunder on Jan. 14 tied for third on the team with 19 points (7g-12a) in 26 games, additionally posting a +5 rating and 53 penalty minutes. Pitton has earned three separate trips to the AHL this season, previously suiting up 10 games with Worcester and Manitoba, collecting two assists and nine penalty minutes.

He was originally selected by the New York Islanders in the eighth round (244th overall) in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, and has scored 37 points (16g-21a) in 187 career AHL games with Bridgeport, Springfield, Manitoba and Worcester.

The native of Brampton, Ontario has scored 56 points (23g-33a) and 23 goals along with 130 penalty minutes in 87 career ECHL games with the Thunder and Utah Grizzlies.

A two-time recipient of the ECHL ‚¬Å“Award of Excellence, ‚¬Â Thunder has led the ECHL in attendance for four consecutive seasons, was voted "Best Local Sports Team" by readers of the San Joaquin Magazine for the third straight year, and drew over 200,000 fans for the fifth consecutive season in 2009-10.
