Flash Drop Road Game to New Mexico

Rio Rancho, NM - The New Mexico Thunderbirds (2-0) rallied from an early 18-point deficit to top the Utah Flash (0-3) 109-100, in their home opener from the Santa Ana Star Center on Friday night.

The Thunderbirds had six players in double digits; Alan Anderson (22 points), Shane Edwards (19 points), Anthony Richardson (17 points), Josh Bostic (14 points), Dar Tucker (13 points) and Dominique Coleman (12 points).

The Flash got out to a very quick start against the T-Birds, jumping out to a 10-0 lead to start the game. They led by as many as 18 points in the first quarter.

In the second quarter, the Thunderbirds used an 11-4 run to close the gap to 50-46. The Flash would answer by scoring seven of the final 10 points of the quarter and they held a 57-49 lead at the half.

The Thunderbirds opened up the third quarter on a 23-8 run to take a 72-65 lead with 5:03 remaining in the quarter. Alan Anderson, who had just seven first half points, led the team with 12 points in third quarter. The Flash answered the Thunderbirds run with an 11-1 run of their own to take a one point lead heading into the fourth quarter.

After a back and forth start to the fourth quarter, the Thunderbirds went on an 8-0 run to take the lead for good in the game. Richardson scored five of the team's eight points during the run.

The Flash were led by Orien Greene who scored 23 points. Kevin Kruger chipped in 20 points for Utah while Andre Ingram and Brandon Costner both had 13 points. Jordan Brady pulled down a team-high 12 rebounds in the loss.

The Thunderbirds and Flash will go at it again tomorrow at the Santa Ana Star with a scheduled tipoff of 7:30 p.m.
