Texas Legends News Release

Boise, Idaho - History was made on Friday night on the road as the Texas Legends got their first win of the season and their first victory in franchise history with a 108-100 triumph over the Idaho Stampede inside Qwest Arena.

Newcomer Joe Alexander led the Legends in the first quarter with seven points. However it was Idaho's J.T. Tiller hitting a remarkable 75-foot, three quarter court shot as the buzzer sounded to end the quarter, giving the Stampede a 25-23 lead.

The Stampede used that shot as momentum into the second quarter, when they started on a 17-4 run, giving them a 15-point lead. They would go on to take a 57-45 lead into halftime.

Idaho's Seth Tarver hit back-to-back three balls to start the second half and the Stampede would take their largest lead of the game, going up 16.

Down 14, with 5:09 to go in the third quarter, the Legends would turn up the heat on a chilly night in Idaho. Texas went on an 11-0 run and cut the deficit to just three after a big slam-dunk from Sean Williams.

However, it was the sprint that the Legends went on to start the fourth quarter that would be the difference maker. They would outscore Idaho 9-0 to begin the quarter and take their first lead since the first frame, going on top 85-84.

The Stampede would not go down quietly in a seesaw final ten minutes of the game that saw five lead changes. With 2:16 to go in the game, veteran guard Antonio Daniels nailed a jumper, giving the Legends a 100-99 lead, a lead they would never relinquish.

Texas finished the ball game on a 10-1 run and would end the contest with their largest lead of the night, eight.

Alexander, in his first game with the Legends, was the leading scorer for Texas, putting up 23 points on 10-of-21 shooting. He would pair that with ten rebounds and was one of three Legends with a double-double on the night.

Sean Williams (11 points, 11 rebounds) and Antonio Daniels (13 points, 10 rebounds) were the other Legends to complete the fete. Six Texas players would finish the night with a double-digit scoring effort as the team shot 55.1% from the field.

The Legends improved to 1-1 with the win as Idaho dropped to 0-2. The two teams will meet again tomorrow night in Idaho for the final time of the season.
