Sea Dogs Win 5th Straight to End Season

Portland, Maine- The Portland Sea Dogs completed their 17th season Monday afternoon with a 7-4 win over the New Hampshire Fisher Cats. The Sea Dogs end the season with five game winning streak and a 70-71 record, finishing in third place in the Eastern League's Eastern Division.

Nate Spears hit his 20th home run off the season in the first and reached base three times and scoring three runs. Spears ties Ralph Milliard (1995) for the franchise record in runs scored with 104.

Anthony Rizzo launched his 20th home run in the fourth inning, making Spears and Rizzo the first teammates to blast 20 homers in a season since the Sea Dogs had five players hit 20 in 1997.

Rizzo also reached base three times, his three run homer, gave him 100 RBI on the season between Single-A Salem and Double-A Portland. He ranks second in the organization in RBI behind his teammate Ryan Lavarnway (101).

Luis Exposito doubled in the third inning scoring Lavarnway for his team leading 94th RBI, ranking fourth in franchise history.

Alex Wilson improved to 4-5 tossing five innings yielding four runs on nine hits. Kyle Fernandes relieved Wilson in his first Double-A outing of 2010, tossing 2.1 scoreless innings yielding two hits.

Ryan Page (0-1) suffered the loss in his Double-A debut, tossing two innings in relief of Fisher Cats starter B.J. LaMura. Page allowed six runs on five hits.

Ryan Khoury ended the season with a 3-for-4 performance scoring two runs.

Bryan Peterson picked-up his first Double-A hit with an eighth inning single.

The Portland Sea Dogs will open the 2011 season on Thursday, April 11th at 6:00 PM against the Reading Phillies. Individual tickets for the 2011 season will go on sale at the Hadlock Field Ticket Office at 9:00 AM on Saturday, November 6th.

Notes: Portland went 7-1 on the final homestand. The Sea Dogs take the season series from New Hampshire taking 11 of 19 meetings. Monday's attendance was 5,788, giving the Sea Dogs a total attendance in 2010 of 390,772 fans. Prior to the game the 2010 awards were handed out.Anthony Rizzo took home MVP honors, Casey Kelly was named Pitcher of the Year, 10th Player Award honors went to Ray Chang, and Jason Rice was selected as the Citizen of the Year. The New Hampshire Fisher Cats will meet the Trenton Thunder in game one of the Eastern League Eastern Division Championship on Wednesday in Trenton, New Jersey. The Western Division Championship will feature the Altoona Curve and Harrisburg Senators.
