ERIE, PA - The Aeros scored seven runs in the seventh inning and ended the season on a high note with a 9-2 defeat of Erie Monday afternoon at Jerry Uht Park. The win ended a five-game losing streak and prevented a four-game series sweep. Akron ends the season 71-71 while the SeaWolves finish 66-76.

Both teams got on the board in the fourth inning. Center fielder Jordan Henry scored for the Aeros after third baseman Lonnie Chisenhall singled him in from third base. Erie answered with a pair of runs when Bryan Pounds and Billy Nowlin scored on a single by John Murrian.

Akron's seventh inning rally started with a bang as catcher Juan Apodaca hit a three-run home run to left field on a 3-2 pitch that scored first baseman Miguel Perez and left fielder Lucas Montero. Second baseman Jason Kipnis then hit a two-RBI single that allowed right fielder Trent Baker and designated hitter Daniel DeGeorge to cross home plate for a 6-2 Aeros lead. Kipnis eventually scored, along with Henry who reached on a single, on a Chisenhall base hit.

Kipnis scored the final run of the game and season in style with a solo home run for the final 9-2 count.

Reliever Alex Kaminsky (1-0) earned the win for the Aeros and allowed two hits with two strikeouts and two walks in three innings of work. Erie starter Anthony Shawler (5-4) took the loss after he gave up four runs on eight hits with three strikeouts and one walk in six innings pitched.

The win secures the Aeros sixth-straight season of having a .500 record or better.
