New Britain Rock Cats News Release

New Britain, CT - Bowie's Ryan Adams had three hits and scored three runs - including the go-ahead run - to lead the Baysox to a 4-3 victory over the Rock Cats before a lively sellout crowd of 7,118 at New Britain Stadium.

The Rock Cats put two runs on the board with two outs in the second inning. Steve Singleton started things off with a double and Evan Bigley followed with a double to right field that scored Singleton for the first run of the game. Mark Dolenc the delivered a base hit into center that knocked in Bigley for the 2-0 lead. Dolenc swiped second before Tobias Streich struck out to end the inning.

Bowie cut the lead in half when Adams doubled and scored on a single by Tyler Henson.

The Rock Cats added on a run in the fifth when Dolenc led off with a double, moved to third on Streich's sacrifice bunt, and scored on a base hit by Estarlin De Los Santos. The Baysox answered back in the next inning, though, with two runs to tie the game. Adams led off the sixth with a single to center, moved to second on a ground out and to third on a Tyler Robertson wild pitch. Robertson then struck out Joseph Mahoney but was charged with a wild pitch that allowed Adams to score. Brandon Waring added an RBI to even the score, 3-3.

In the bottom of the eighth, the Rock Cats sent team saves leader Billy Bullock to the mound. Adams greeted Bullock with a single to third base and advanced to second on Juan Portes' throwing error. Bullock retired the next two batters before forcing Mahoney to slice a grounder to short but De Los Santos couldn't handle the ball and his error led to Adams crossing the plate for the go-ahead run.

Robertson allowed three runs on six hits in seven innings. He struck out five. Bullock (1-4) walked three in just 1 2/3 innings. The lone run he allowed was unearned but proved to be the game-winner for Bowie.

Baysox relief pitcher Sean Gleason (2-1) struck out three in two shutout innings to keep the Rock Cats at bay. Brandon Cooney came on in the ninth with two outs and forced the final out to pick up his second save.
