For a second season, the team will help raise funds for the Southern Maryland based organization, which helps war veterans and active duty personnel upon returning home

(Waldorf, MD): For a second consecutive season, the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs are hosting a fundraiser at Regency Furniture Stadium to benefit Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing.

When the Blue Crabs take on the York Revolution on Saturday, September 18 at 6:35 p.m., a portion of the proceeds will benefit the organization which helps war veterans returning from battle. Last summer, a similar fundraiser was held for Project Healing Waters on July 11 when the U.S. Military All-Stars played an exhibition game at Regency Furniture Stadium. On September 18, fans may also make additional donations once they arrive at the ballpark.

Project Healing Waters is dedicated to the physical and emotional rehabilitation of disabled active duty military personnel and veterans through fly fishing and fly tying educations and outings. The great work Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing has done and the affect its had has been featured multiple times on a national stage, including CNN and ESPN's Outside The Lines news magazine program.

"Speaking for the Project Healing Waters organization, we are most grateful for the enthusiastic support that the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs have extended to our project by hosting this fundraiser," said President Ed Nicholson, a retired Navy Captain.

"Project Healing Waters is an important cause for us here, and moreover they are based right here in Southern Maryland," says Blue Crabs Marketing Manager Courtney Freeland. "It makes a lot of sense for us to extend a hand to them and work with them this season as well, since we live in a community with so many active duty personnel and veterans that support the Blue Crabs," Freeland continued.

Three dollars from every $13.00 ticket purchased will go directly to Project Healing Waters. Tickets for this game may be purchased in advance, by visiting the Blue Crabs official website at SOMDBlueCrabs.com, or by calling 301-638-9788. Fans may also purchase tickets by coming to the box office at Regency Furniture Stadium during normal business hours. At the game, Ms. Lisa Mei Norton will sing live the song "Healing Waters" that she wrote for Project Healing Waters.
